What do people think about the rumours/news he is going to be the alternative universe iron man?

I dont like it at all, no offense to him but he's no RDJ, I love RDJ and he is Iron Man, its not even been five mins since the MCU killed him off yet they still keep on trying to ride on his coat tails, first by trying to turn Peter Parker into a fake Stark-a-like and now by trying to bring someone else in as an alternative version.

give it a damn rest marvel.

You say it's not even been 5 minutes since they killed off Tony Stark but it'll be 3 years this spring since Endgame!!

I think the rumours about Tom Cruise are for Dr Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, in which its expected they'll travel through multiple realities and so the likelihood is it'll just be a cameo. If I remember correctly, TC was considered for Iron Man back in the 90s, so it might be a nod to that. To be honest whatever I think of TC I do think he has the charisma to pull off Tony Stark in a way not many other actors have. But it's all just pure rumour at this point, I'm not even sure it came from a good source (a lot of these rumours, eg like Garfield and Maguire coming back, are in fact leaks coming from connected individuals). I'm really excited for Dr Strange!

I am really looking forward to the Dr Strange. I think TC will appear as Iron Man in that, but only in the multi verse.

I am more worried about Dr Strange killing off a liked character. If it's Bucky I'm done! Though I think I know who it will be.

I am very much obsessed with SS. I have been watching Kings and Political Animals back to back this week. After I'd watched all the Captain America films back to back 🙈 (and Black Panther just for the end credits)

Well.. don't quote me. But in the comics Dr Strange has to 'end' Wanda as her powers threaten the multi verse.

I am really excited about the new phase. I really can't wait how they tie in all the new series.

Obsessed with MCU. DS and I got tickets to the premiere of Winter Soldier years ago, not to see the actual movie but the actors all came out and did autographs and crowd greets. They were all there. It was fab! RDJ came out at the end and got the biggest reception obvs, crowd went completely nuts Grin

It was her trying to get her kids back that makes her so dangerous in the comics. Her arc has been really well done. I enjoyed WandaVision.

I don't feel like they'll kill off Bucky before Sam's first real outing as Captain America, but it depends on Sebastian Stan I guess. Does anyone know how many films/appearances he has left on his contract?

I actually think Tom Cruise would be wasted in just a cameo role in the MCU. I think he'd do well with a bigger part.

They aren’t going to replace RDJ with an actor from the same generation.

Tom Cruise is clearly doing well for his age but he is almost 60.

RDJ is a terrible actor, so he can't possibly be worse (actually think TC is a good actor).
Maybe an IM with TC would actually be watchable!

As someone said above, I think it will be someone younger.

I don't think they are trying to turn spiderman into iron man. But there was always going to be someone who stepped in to fill the void left.

Tbh, as a life long marvel fan who has had an MCU obsession since the beginning
, I am not enjoying this phase as much. And Steve's ending was shit. Especially for Peggy.

3 years is nothing and marvel are flogged like a dead horse all round with all the TV shows and everything.

I wish I could meet RDJ I love him. I remember trying to search on the internet how to write to him when he was in prison but I couldnt find a way [cry]

Spider man has nothing to do with stark in the comics, he's the working class hero he wouldnt have liked stark. he was his own man he had a job he studied and helped his aunt, all his tech was his own and he didnt have stupid shit like extra spider legs and things.

I Love RDJ and want to marry him, but I dont like the iron man suits either when they went all nanotech and got increasingly anime like (I love anime but I dont expect to see hollywood copying it), IMO the more obvious CGI they use the more boring it looks but I think it must be the scene structure and action direction rather then the CGI itself because as I said I love anime and thats all fake.

Not disputing that. But I think it depends on how you view the MCU. I see it as separate loosely based on the comics.

I like that they are different. I like the iron man/spiderman arc. I don't see him as a new stark though.

We wouldn't have the bucky we do if they kept to it faithfully and that would make me sad Sad Grin

Surely that's the point in new spiderman after bonding with the mutil verse spiderman losing aunt may his friends, smiley. He is on his own, his identity of Peter Parker has gone he is now spiderman and you see him support his own suit.
