I have just come on here when I should be working Smileto rave about this film which i saw last night.

All shot in one long take covering an evening in the life of a chef and the staff and customers he interacts with.

You feel as though you are really in the restaurant and experiencing the same emotions as the characters.

All the actors were brilliant but for me Vinette Robinson who played Carly stood out.

Also thought that the scenes featuring table 7 were really well done.

Go and see it. Not an easy watch but such amazing story telling.

I saw a trailer for this yesterday - it definitely looks great and I intend to see it.

superoz · 13/01/2022 00:40

Definitely recommend this film, it is very high tension and stress inducing!
Amazed at how they did this in one take, apparently they filmed it 4 times and picked number 3.
Stephen Graham brilliant as usual, though the whole cast were fantastic.

SunnyLeaf · 13/01/2022 00:42

I’ve heard how good it is and want to watch…. But is is really stressful as the viewer to watch? Because I struggle with that Grin

DartmoorChef · 13/01/2022 00:51

Looking forwards to watching this as I think I will be able to relate. Where can it be seen ?

Xtraincome · 14/01/2022 21:21

@SunnyLeaf even the trailer seems very anxiety inducing doesn't it?

I am aiming to watch this after I finish watching Repeat- only £2.99 on Sky at the moment if you fancy a lower budget indie.

Bearsbearsbears40 · 14/01/2022 21:27

I’d definitely recommend watching this, yes it was a stressful watch but really enthralling!

MaMaLa321 · 28/01/2022 20:11

I've just seen it. Tremendous. The way that they developed such a wide range of characters is so clever.
TBH I found the racist customer very difficult to watch, and if I'd been watching it on TV I would have stopped at that point. But in the cinema, you keep going and I'm glad that I did.

ISpyCobraKai · 02/02/2022 09:44

I saw this in the cinema yesterday, brilliant, but very intense.
The celebrity chef guy was horrible.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/02/2022 15:06

Watched it last night - briliany but I'd never want to eat anything cooked there , their hands were on their faces and hair more than the food Envy not envy

Was the Environmental Health Inspector the actor in Eastenders who plays Aarons dodgy mate ?

In every workplace you'll get the one who swans about being nicey-nicey to those they're trying to win over and an utter 2 Faced Shit to others
The ones who skive /turn up late
The ones who just plod on , like a swan serene but paddling like billy-o

I was waiting to see if Table 7 ended up wearing their dinner !

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 07/02/2022 09:40

We watched this at the weekend and thought it was brilliant. DH and I were a bag of nerves though! It is certainly stress-inducing. A great insight into that industry. I am so impressed given how it was made and under the conditions of covid. 9/10 from us (I'd like to have had a more 'definitive' ending - don't want to give anything away!)

bendmeoverbackwards · 15/02/2022 22:46

Saw this today, really enjoyed it.

But why were none of the kitchen staff wearing hair coverings? Health inspector didn’t mention it either.

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 15/02/2022 22:53

What platform did you watch it on OP?

MrsLargeEmbodied · 23/03/2022 23:07

Just out on Netflix, agree, amazing film

the80sweregreat · 25/03/2022 11:02

It shredded my nerves! I've always been a fan of Stephen Graham and he didn't disappoint.
The actress playing Carly was brilliant too , when she called out the owner's daughter and told her a few home truths that hit home for me as I work in a job where we are seen as nobodies , but we do a good job.
It was a bit dark in places so I struggled to see what was happening and I agree that some of the hygiene standards were low, but it showed the pressure workers are under to get it right and how much they are expected to do.
It wasn't an easy watch.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 25/03/2022 11:11

i found it riveting and confirmed that i would not want to work in a kitchen!

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 30/03/2022 20:39

I also really enjoyed this although found it highly, HIGHLY stressful to watch Confused

AnastasiaRomanov · 30/03/2022 20:41

I gave up on it. It was stressful and felt a bit pointless. Maybe I’ll try again.

icelollycraving · 03/04/2022 21:34

Just watched it. I feel a bit depressed after. I also wanted a more definitive ending.

willowtree00 · 29/08/2022 14:24

I saw this and absolutely loved it. Highly recommend.

the80sweregreat · 29/08/2022 15:41

I loved this film.

JaneJeffer · 25/09/2023 23:25

It's on BBC1 tonight and it's giving me a headache.

Make the berger, make the fucking berger

JaneJeffer · 25/09/2023 23:35

I guess that was just a synopsis Confused

2004bestyear · 25/09/2023 23:40

It's on Film 4 this Saturday at 9pm. Then the series begins 9pm Sunday on BBC1

Gillstuck · 25/09/2023 23:47

I just watched it on BBC and came away with a headache too! So much energy lost from all that shouting. A brilliant turn by Stephen Graham. Something of a study in 'acting angry' from the cast. And the knives, the emotions, the slip hazards on the floors! Who on earth chooses that life? Brilliant film but a very stressful watch.
