The Matrix Resurrections (poss spoilers)

Has anyone seen it yet?

I went today. Fell asleep at one point and was woken up by someone dropping something behind me. There were flashes of good bits but mostly the storyline was confused and feels like the writers had no idea which direction to take. Trinity is barely in it.

I'd hoped it was going to be something like what if Neo didn't take the red pill and lived unaware of the matrix but they still needed the one.

I really wish they'd just made The Matrix and left it there as it works as a standalone film. This was very disappointing.

We left after 40 minutes, would have been 35 but DH didn't take my initial hints.
Positives were that it was good to see middle aged lead characters that actually looked middle aged and not surgically altered, negatives were everything else.
Ghastly film, game was up for me when they started showing clips of the original, films need to stand on their own merit and this just didn't.

Oh no! I was looking forward to it being eeked out a bit more.

What is the premise? I thought Neo cracked it in the last one..

DH went to go see this on his own (as I hadn't watched the original trilogy) and he said it was an awful film.

I ended up watching the trilogy with him and said maybe I'll go watch the new film now too and he said don't bother!!

I actually can't remember how they explained how he's still alive @lightisnotwhite! I just remember that it's supposed to be 60 years later and he's a partner in a computer gaming company. His partner is supposed to be Agent Smith (I think) but they obviously didn't convince Hugo Weaving to return as he only appeared in brief flashbacks.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought it was awful.

I never thought I would say it, but it made reloaded and revolutions look good. Similar to pp, I was hoping that it would be a new iteration of the one who decides to red pill it rather than become the saviour until he grows old and meets Trinity.

Action scenes were terrible and decidedly boring. The new characters were about 12 so really hard to take seriously.

I wanted to leave after 20mins but stuck it out in the vain hope it would get better. It didn't.

Just to agree with everyone else, what a bloody terrible film??!!?? I literally have no idea what they was thinking with this storyline and cinematography. Hands down the worst film I've seen in the cinema for a very long time, really let's the trilogy down
