I saw this film yesterday and as well as loving it and watching documentaries about the family on youtube all morning, I have a question.

Before Patrizia and Maurizio's marriage broke up, their last christmas together although she didn't know that, she gave him a watch and he gave her ............ vouchers to some cheap chain store or something? I know it was vouchers but it was worse than just getting a voucher I think.

I want to see this movie, what did you think of it. I think aesthetically it looks spot on but the accents sound a bit full on and exaggerated. Lady gaga is a good choice she’s very charismatic.

I loved the film, I was on the edge of my seat throughout. Loved the clothes, the style, the handbags! The acting was good and the dialogue was well-written.

I know it was long (2 hours and 38 minutes) but it heavily glossed over the decade between his leaving her and her hiring the hitman.

This morning I was watching documentaries about the Gucci family and their feuding and finances and some of it was in the film but other new details were revealed in the documentary.

The film made it look like she was a woman scorned when she hired the hit, after falling down a Gucci rabbit hole I now think that she was terrified he'd spend what was left of the money he got for selling his shares.

PG had been living a comfortable life on the monthly allowance for 10 years in the film before the ''hit''. The trigger for her hiring a hitman was not him leaving her as ten years had passed! It was his selling his Gucci shares for a mere 120 million euro which he was burning through with badly thought out new business ventures that all failed, and, although he kept his yacht and his Ferarri, when instructed to cut his spending, he cut his allowance to her! He was in a new relationship and I think her motivation was purely financial. She wanted to see what was left of that rapidly dwindling 120 million euro go to her daughters before he had new heirs to what little was left with Paola Franchi.

Also, she was furious that her family (her and her daughter(s) were no longer heirs to the HOUSE OF GUCCI which she took a lot of status from.

She was just the x wife of a man who sold his shares.

It was Bloomingdales OP, a very middle range department store, less classy than John Lewis probably similar to Frasers.

Ah right thanks for that clarity @rookiemere !

I want to see it but I note that it's out on home release in a few weeks' time. Do you think it's best seen in a cinema?

Oh definitely, it's very visually appealing even though some people have criticisms of what was left out/ portrayal of Paolo etc
