Apologies if there is a thread on this already! I searched but couldn't find one.
Has anyone watched this on Netflix?
I don't always love a musical, but my eyes are red from crying through this one! Really loved it!

Just finished it - loved it!

Andrew Garfield was a revelation and the cameos were amazing.

That scene in the diner! I was pointing and furiously searching online at the same time!
I had no idea he could sing like that

does it have lots of singing?

ToooOldForThis · 21/11/2021 22:22

Lots and lots!
And honestly I'd not say I was a fan of musicals, but just really liked this!

The scene at the diner was amazing. I’m a big Johnathan Larson fan and this was a great film.

I just watched this tonight. It was so good. I adore Andrew Garfeild. He is great in everything and he was brilliant in this.
I loved the songs.
Highly recommended.

This was fabulous - so sad that Stephen Sondheim ha just died!

Meredusoleil · 18/12/2021 18:41

Is this a Lin Manuel Miranda musical? Off to search on Netflix.

Meredusoleil · 18/12/2021 18:43

Omg I've just seen it stars Vanessa Hudgens whom I love love love from The Princess Switch so I think it's safe to say we'll be watching it tomorrow 😉

Cherryana · 18/12/2021 18:45

I loved it so so much.

I cried and cried at the end too.

On YouTube there are a few behind the scenes with Lin and Andrew (first name terms for me darh-ling) talking about different scenes which are really interesting once you have watched it.

Meredusoleil · 18/12/2021 18:52

Will it be too much for my 9.5 year old to watch do you reckon? It's rated 12A in the UK 🤔

It can be quite upsetting at times, as many of Larson's friends were affected by AIDS.
Pinkflipflop85 · 18/12/2021 19:03

The musical was an autobiography by Larson who was struggling with his career choice and relationship at the time - I'm not sure how much a 9 year old would be interested in it!

Meredusoleil · 19/12/2021 17:20

Well we ended up watching it this afternoon...wasn't how I thought it was going to be at all. Quite hard to follow and a bit bonkers at times imho. 13 yo found it boring. 9 yo said it was depressing!

Was surprised to see Freddy made it at the end...but what happened to Michael? We don't know?

Also, didn't realise Vanessa Hudgens could sing so well. Such a talented woman!

Pinkflipflop85 · 19/12/2021 17:29

Michael is based on Larsons friend who is still alive today.
