Anyone else seen this? I was disappointed, especially as I like Ryan Reynolds and Jodie Comer. It was like an annoying copy of the Truman Show with a shed load of CGI.

Oh we loved this- just thought it was the perfect family movie, very fun. Went with my 8 & 10 year old, plus DH and we all enjoyed it.
I agree the concept was very Truman Show, but no harm in revisiting old ideas.

SanFranBear · 09/09/2021 22:49

Agree with India... we absolutely loved it. My two are 9 and 12 and was pitched just about perfect!

MarcelineMissouri · 09/09/2021 22:49

We also loved it!! Although I may be biased because I ❤️ Ryan Reynolds!!

Mandofan · 09/09/2021 22:52

That’s a shame, I loved it! So much that I saw it twice

HighHighHopes · 09/09/2021 22:53

I loved it!

I didn't think the swearing was appropriate for a 12a. Film was alright. Liked the concept but some bits seemed quite generic.

I took my 8 year old and was expecting it to be a load of shit and to snooze through it but actually enjoyed it.

OrlandointheWilderness · 09/09/2021 23:01

Oh I loved it!

Bagelsandbrie · 09/09/2021 23:03

We all absolutely loved it! (Ds aged 9, dd 18 and dh and I). Yeah it’s a bit Truman show ish. But funnier and I love RR and JC. They had really good chemistry.

holidaynearlyover · 09/09/2021 23:04

We loved it too!!

SocksAndTheCity · 12/09/2021 22:09

I saw this when it popped up at a Secret Screening and walked out after twenty minutes or so, but I'm definitely not the target audience and would never have gone had I known what the film was. Definitely not for me.

MsAmerica · 19/09/2021 23:05

I agree that it was disappointing, partly because it was derivative Truman is the most obvious source, but I was also thinking of Stranger Than Fiction. Second, though, it was also disappointing in being so frenetic - and violent.

It really lives and dies on the basis of RR's charm, and luckily he has a lot of it.

JovialNickname · 19/09/2021 23:08

I thought it was great! I wasn't expecting to enjoy it but I really did, I thought it was quite a clever film.

BlueFrog21 · 19/09/2021 23:14

I took my son expecting not to enjoy it as he told me there were YouTubers in it. But actually I really enjoyed it. One of the best films I’ve seen in a long time.

I disagree it’s a Truman Show copy. It’s really not like The Truman Show at all. I thought it was refreshing to see an original film.

I took six 11 year olds and we all loved it.
Cross between Truman Show and Upload with just the right amount of Taika Waititi
