Mostly because of the high rating with all the rave reviews, but also because I like Arthurian legend. Bafflingly disappointed. This is the most pretentiously enigmatic movie in a long time, and no visual artistry can compensate for it.

But I'm interested in any other opinions.

I didn't care for it! I've seen Dev Patel in a few things which I've liked so I expected it to be better than I found it. I'm trying to support the cinemas now that they're allowed to be open again but I should have saved my money on this one. Mark Kermode seemed to like it.

I loved it! but it probably did suffer from everyone overdoing the plaudits as ever. Dec Patel really made it work with his mixture of bravado and c@ntiness. I loved the stupid kind of shaggy dog story type narrative, and every thing/one looking very worn and old (except from Dev who positively glows). FWIW I really disliked the same director's A Ghost Story was which similarly vaunted by the critics.

This was better than I expected but you do have to be willing to suspend your disbelief.

I caveat this by saying I watched it when quite ill with covid. I found it a really confusing and pretentious film. I wanted to enjoy it because I love Dev Patel. But this film just... felt very cold and flat.

Watched this last night on Amazon with DH and DS and our list of criticisms is long indeed!

Cinematography was superb, although there were some scene you couldn't actually see anything at all, but that would have been accurate in the Middle Ages I guess.

We have a good surround sound system and the sound effects were amazing, but the cast mumbled so much I would say that at least a third of the dialogue was completely unintelligible.

Why choose an very old story like G and the GK, and then change the ending so much, especially when so many different interpretations can be put on the story as it is? It was just annoying.

On the whole I thought it was pretentious twaddle and deeply disappointing. I will be giving this director a very wide berth in future.

Happily turned it off after 30 minutes or so - the menfolk wanted an essential football match!

Don't think I will watch the rest of it.

I loved it - it's just my type of film. I love a slow burn film, with lots to consider and the landscapes and cinematography was stunning. I also read the Sir Gawain & The Green Knight for O Level so I was already invested before the opening credits.
