Love them!
I can't get enough of the scenery and the glimpses of lifestyle and a good plot is a bonus.
Recommendations?
( and yes, I have seen Midsommar Smile)

Just back from Another Round. Wonderful film. Quintessentially Scandinavian although no murders Wink
Lots of local colour. I can think of loads of tv series but no other films.

@Etinox thank you.
TV series also welcome.
I have just watched the film 'The Waves which I enjoyed.

A great, quirky film: A Man Called Ove.

In Order of Disappearance
A second vote for A Man Named Ove

The name would be Ingmar Bergman. Seventh Seal and Smiles of a Summer Night are two of my all-time favorites.

Would Carl Dreyer count?

newnortherner111 · 16/07/2021 17:33

Don't know if it counts but I would recommend three Icelandic films I have seen (don't see the remakes where they have been made)

Rams
The County
A White White Day

It wouldn't be everybody's cup of tea, but I can enthusiastically recommend Riders For Justice (Danish with subtitles). Film of the year so far for me, albeit with Nobody and Cruella not far behind it Smile.

Yoksha · 22/08/2021 11:36

Just watched A White White Day, now on iplayer.
Glad to see it's a recommendation ^^.

Lasse Hallstrom's My Life As A Dog

And its very similar Danish cousin, The Bald Ghost

Headhunters is quite entertaining (from a Nesbo novel). I recently watched The Accused with a young Lund from The Killing in it but it was far too dark and disturbing for me. Has anyone seen The Guilty? supposed to be a really good one but not seen it .

AuntMasha · 18/09/2021 14:13

I can recommend ‘The Guilty’, a Danish film from 2018. Reminded me a little of ‘Locke’. Really gripping.
