I'm watching The Dead Don't Die and was idly thinking that the zombie make up made him look like Iggy Pop

Turns out it IS Iggy Pop. He's very good at being a zombie, might be a new direction for him. Grin

I'm not even sure that he was actually acting, maybe that's just how he walks now. Everybody else in the film is under-acting too, it's a bit odd.

Oh please do carry on reviewing - I’m wondering whether I can be bothered to watch this.

The only thing interesting about the film is how almost nothing happens despite there being a zombie apocalypse. There were a lot of interesting actors in it, all under-reacting as though it was a horde of ants in the pantry rather than zombies taking over the town. I can sort of see that it's a bit of an in-joke in as much as they set up a load of characters and situations that are stereotypical of the average zombie movie and then make it play out differently, but it could have been both different and interesting instead of being different by being boring.

In short, watch it if you have absolute nothing else to do, but it's only slightly more engaging than emptying the dishwasher.

Oh well I do have a telly in the kitchen specifically so I’ve got something to entertain me while loading the dishwasher.

Army of the Dead is a better 'twist' on a zombie movie. I especially enjoyed the way that there was a whole movie in the opening theme song (Viva Las Vagas by Elvis) packed full of every cliche.

The Dead Don’t Die was such a let down!

Dinks90 · 08/07/2021 18:38

I really enjoyed it Smile

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 08/07/2021 20:24

Did you find it funny Dinks90, or did you enjoy it for another reason? I thought it was aiming for understated humour but missed, although it's almost worth watching the whole film just for the Smart car which was by far the funniest thing when driven by Adam Driver. I don't know how tall he is but he looked like a big kid squeezed into one of those plastic coupe cars for toddlers. Grin

@BlackAmericanoNoSugar I didn't think it was a comedy movie but there were some funny parts.
I just liked that it was a different take on a zombie movie and enjoyed the story line. And finally a movie that didn't have a crap ending.

i gave up with 10 minutes left, do i bother finishing?

AbsolutelyPatsy · 11/07/2021 09:40

it was advertised as Off Beat, which appealed to me, but it was so far off beat it was disconcerting
