I used to wish for John Cusack to be cast as Nick Carraway but that ship has long sailed. I didn't like Toby McGuire in the role.

I wish that Robert Carlyle had been cast as Jack Parlabane when Quite Ugly One Morning was adapted for TV. Producers picked Jimmy Nesbitt instead, and I was so enraged I wouldn't watch it.

@Zazazaz I saw Alan Bates as Gabriel Oakes when I was about 13 or 14, and thought he was absolutely lovely. I became quite a fan for a while. Admittedly I haven't read the book, and saw the movie because we were studying "The Woodlanders" at school, and it was recommended by a teacher to try and get some feel of Wessex (I live in Australia).

I'd also prefer to see almost anyone else cast as Jack Reacher. Tom Cruise is a midget, the whole point of Reacher is that he's a giant.

@Ozymandias101 The most annoying thing about Tom Cruise being cast as Reacher was probably Lee Child's apologist comments. How Tom Cruise was able to represent the sense of menace that Reacher carried with him, etc, etc. Yeah, right Tom Cruise is really frightening. The main thing that is frightening about Tom Cruise is that he might try to bore you about Scientology.

Anyway, Child has now changed his tune – I suppose since the second movie is the last it will feature Cruise – and said that Cruise is too old to display the physicality necessary for Reacher.

Amazon is making a series starring this actor as Reacher.

I'm not familiar with him at all, but he looks more believable.

Mine are all in the past, alas! I wanted Philip Seymour Hoffman as Bunny Corcoran in a film adaptation of The Secret History, and I felt strongly that Hugh Grant should have played Gilderoy Lockhart in whichever HP film that was. (And am confirmed in that in seeing his Paddington II performance.)
