Anyone seen it (it's on Amazon Prime)?

Terrifying and brilliant. Rosamund Pike is brilliant. She basically gaslights old people into care homes and becomes their court ordered guardian to siphon their wealth off.

Yes! Really enjoyed it.

Iamthewombat · 13/03/2021 22:39

Agreed, brilliant and surprising. So refreshing to see something like this instead of endless bloody Marvel superhero films.

BenoneBeauty · 13/03/2021 22:53

I thought it was ok but would have preferred it to have been a 'normal' person fighting back, rather than the kind of person it was. I enjoyed the ending though!

I thought that's what made it interesting. That neither of them were "nice" people. Made it a bit different.
BenoneBeauty · 14/03/2021 09:40

I get that - they were all horrible so you weren't on anyone's side, but I'd have liked to have seen how it panned out had the person she took control of not had such a son. More of a suspense thriller, rather than a criminal farce, I guess.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 14/03/2021 09:53

Yeah I liked that it was an also-baddie who fought back. Two hateable characters.

Just watched this today & really enjoyed it. Definitely a change & the tension was great.

EachandEveryone · 22/04/2021 11:55

Do you think it goes on in real life?

RandomMess · 22/04/2021 13:58

Loved it

MaMaLa321 · 26/04/2021 09:16

Yes, there have been recent court cases.

I thought it started well and them became thoroughly ridiculous.

The hot lesbian girlfriend had absolutely no function other than being the HLG. That bit where she supposedly gets beaten up and ends up with a photogenic bruise on one cheekbone.

Just felt like a waste really. Loved the scene where the protagonist crawls out of the lake and makes a call from the garage. Beautifully filmed

Yutes · 25/05/2021 12:18

It’s a brilliant black comedy/ drama

Carriemac · 30/05/2021 18:26

I thought it was really bad

Doingtheboxerbeat · 04/06/2021 11:19

I thought it was shockingly bad actually but I had to see how it played out.
Also, did anyone think she looked a lot like Martha Stewart?

secretfreckle · 05/06/2021 23:14

Really enjoyable, 'suspend-all-disbelief' film; watched it last night. Loved it. Peter Dinklage was great too. Marla was well hard: how did she survive all the attempts to kill her? How did she pay for all her stuff and the taxi after nearly drowning? Where did she get all that kit from for the underground car park scene?

piney07 · 15/01/2022 19:18

Very late to the party but just read this article which sounds like the real life version! www.newyorker.com/magazine/2017/10/09/how-the-elderly-lose-their-rights

movintothecountry · 24/02/2022 21:05

I loved it, really refreshing to watch something interesting where the end actually surprised me for a change. Love everything Rosamund Pike and Peter Dinklage do though, they both make great choices.

Agree the hot girlfriend was pointless, although maybe it was to try and personalise Marla a bit? Just felt like they needed to have someone in it for men to fancy...?

AnneLovesGilbert · 24/02/2022 21:11

Oh I hated it! Don’t know anyone else who’s watched it. It made me feel itchy and nauseous, I think she’s an amazing actress but it was so hyper dramatic and gratuitous.
