Hoping to get recommendations for films that are for we singletons this weekend

So ones that celebrate being happily single or even dare I say it love cynical?

Witty/humorous stuff preferred

All I can think of so far are

First wives club
Eat pray love
Legally blonde

I'm sure you lot will come up with loads more

Hi Graph. I'm gonna say Love Actually, but I know this is a bit marmite on MN. I like the bit at the very beginning, where they talk about the final calls people made when they knew they were dying in 911. Very sad, but many many messages of love, and the bit when they show real airport reunions, where people (unlike on MN) are actually really pleased to see each other! Grin

Hmm thanks for my only reply. I get what you mean about love actually but I've watched it loads. Was hoping for some new suggestions and now...well the moments passed hasn't it?

I'm happily single but I was hoping for something empowering, championing Singledom?

Ended up watching

The call - Halle Berry thriller, fantastic really good pace and showing women fighting back against vawg which is a step in the right direction

Night hunter - Henry Cavill DIRE! Do not recommend, absolutely dreadful rubbish a 9 year old could have written and frankly offensive to people with LD and mental illness

Kiss kiss bang bang - friends have been recommending for years knowing my taste and sense of humour - LOVED it, ok a bit daft and cheesy in places but I still really enjoyed it.

Just my opinion.

I need to try more "new" films ("new" meaning pretty much anything made after 2000! I blame dd as it was when pregnant with her I started falling asleep during films and missing them and then of course the newborn years...and then I was out the habit and the "new" films often didn't appeal)

I need to try and find films I've not watched before instead of just keep watching old favourites which is my habit.

Thank you for replying though I hope you had a lovely Valentine's Day.

Yes thanks. But I've just realised, in my rush to reply have completely gone against the brief.... Duh!

If you are looking for a bit of old fashioned female empowerment and like a bit of sci-fi I would suggest Alien and Terminator.

Fantastic films !
