There's Safety Not Guaranteed and Paddleton which are from the same guy.

Extra Ordinary I liked.

Depends what you mean by quirky.

Book Smart is really good.

Okja

Doyoumind · 21/11/2020 18:47

Parasite, of course. Not sure if that counts as quirky.

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 21/11/2020 18:50

Quirky as in weird as fuck??
Then Skins is the one for you. (Spanish film not the teen Ch4 series).
Netflix.
You'll thank me later 😉

@Skipsurvey - if you don't mind a subtitled movie I can recommend Only the Animals on Netflix.
Set in central France - begins with the disappearance of a wealthy French woman. The story is told from the PoV of several characters whose lives, loves and problems overlap with one another.
I very much enjoyed this, definitely quirky film.

Skipsurvey · 04/01/2021 11:17

oh thank you @rosegoldwatcher

John Was Trying To Contact Aliens.
It's a short film, about 15 mins but lovely.

Kljnmw3459 · 04/01/2021 11:19

On Netflix

Captain Fantastic is...fantastic! So lovely, funny and touching.

We also really enjoyed The Hunt...it looks like a standard 'people being hunted in the woods' type horror but it was actually more quirky and off kilter than we expected, and funny too.

Harold and Maude is an old one, but I'd really recommend that too if you haven't already seen it.

And most of the Wes Anderson's, particularly Moonlight Kingdom or Grand Budapest Hotel.

ducktape · 09/01/2021 08:22

I don't know if it's classed as quirky, but it's definitely not mainstream - peanut Butter Falcon.

Hunt For The Wilderpeople

Sightseers

Gwenhwyfar · 09/01/2021 20:04

Not quirky and quite conventional in some ways, but I was so moved by this film that I started a thread about it.
