Shocker of a movie all round ! Totally ruined my good memories of the tv show.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 12/08/2020 20:19

Well, apart from judging a women for getting dressed up to meet an ex (I’d want to make sure I looked good) and using the term ‘tarted up’, I agree that it is a beyond shit movie. The karaoke is a particular low point.

Willowmartha1 · 12/08/2020 20:30

@YellowandGreenToBeSeen by all means look good but then don't act all shocked when he kisses you ! Didn't realise the term tarted up was offensive ??

Quite possibly the worst movie I've ever seen. Grin

MissRabbitIsExhausted · 12/08/2020 20:34

I hated the movie, I loved the series and enjoyed the first file but the second was horrendous Shock

MissRabbitIsExhausted · 12/08/2020 20:34

To make that make more sense!
I hated the second movie, I enjoyed the first 😂

Metallicalover · 12/08/2020 20:49

Ah I'm not a lover of this film either! I like the series and the 1st film!
However the more I watch the series the more i dislike the character Carrie, especially the way she messes around Aiden!
I always message my friends at the same point in the series 🤣🤣🤣

AndAllOurYesterdays · 12/08/2020 20:54

But just because she got dressed up doesn't mean he shouldn't be able to control himself?

Anyway, my least favourite bit is when Charlotte does baking with her toddler wearing a designer skirt and then gets upset when she gets messy, and has to go and cry in a cupboard. Despite having a nanny and chosen to do the activity.

MrsTerryPratchett · 12/08/2020 20:56

May I recommend Pitch Perfect instead? For an explanation of 'tarted up'

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 12/08/2020 21:14

‘Tarted up’ is, at a basic level levying the term ‘prostitute’ at a woman (a ‘tart’). Colloquially, it has connotations of a women getting more dressed up ‘than she should’. ‘Getting dressed up to look nice’ has a more positive nod than ‘tarted up’.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 12/08/2020 21:15

And also, your language suggests Carrie and the way she looks is somehow responsible for Aiden being unable to control himself. Not cool.

Trailing1 · 12/08/2020 21:17

To quote my DH'S review of this film "it's so bad, it's good!" Grin

hopeishere · 12/08/2020 21:22

This was the one where they jumped the shark. It was all about the clothes and product placement. The bit with Charlotte and Miranda talking about motherhood was the only good bit.

This times 100
But not when I watched originally

I also agree with this. She is such a painful, self obsessed arse. Didn’t like Aiden though. He’s a drip and I HATE the way he talks (and sighs).
MotheringShites · 12/08/2020 21:26

I just don’t know how they fitted all those extravagant clothes in their suitcases, even with first class allowance!

It was the worst film I’ve ever seen.

IHaveBrilloHair · 12/08/2020 21:30

I've mainly blocked it out.
Everything about it was just god awful.

thedaytodayyesterday · 12/08/2020 21:31

@AndAllOurYesterdays Omg I was just thinking the other day about Charlotte baking, on the phone with Carrie ignoring her child and then crying CRYING when her designer skirt gets paint on it. Then the full time nanny turns up. For. Fuck. Sake.

The absolutely obscene amount of wealth all four of them have is ridiculous. The entire Abu Dhabi section... I don't even know what to say about that. Also, Lawrence of my Labia. I can't. The show used to be clever and ground breaking (at the time) and that film pretty much ruined it.

Willowmartha1 · 12/08/2020 22:33

@YellowandGreenToBeSeen whatever !! You've missed my point entirely HmmHmm

OP posts:
YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 12/08/2020 22:38

Ah the ‘whatever’ argument; so eloquent.

Regardless, not quite sure how I missed your point, more that I disagree with you and I’m not a fan of sexist tropes. I agree that she is deeply annoying but not because she got dressed up or because her ex made a pass. I actually think her shock was directed at herself and how easily she was swayed.

But really. It’s a bad bad movie all round.

missdunkindohnut · 12/08/2020 22:40

Is this the one where Charlotte the rich stay-at-home mum to 2 kids with a husband and FULL-TIME NANNY has a deep conversation about HOW HARD being a mum is and some days she can’t cope.

Now that I’ve had kids I can’t stand that bit, how on earth did they think that would be relatable to anybody anywhere

Willowmartha1 · 12/08/2020 22:45

@YellowandGreenToBeSeen patronising much

OP posts:
YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 12/08/2020 22:52

Not quite sure how a) calling someone on a slightly rude response or b) disagreeing with their opinion & putting forward a theory of your own is patronising but you do you babe*

*that’s being patronising, just in case it passed you by.

Willowmartha1 · 13/08/2020 13:38

@YellowandGreenToBeSeen you've turned a light hearted comment into a feminist rant but let's leave it there shall we.
