Anyone else been today? DH and I just came out. We thought it was absolutely brilliant. We're both quite drained now! Do take tissues.

Ohfrigginghellers · 10/01/2020 23:03

Yes it was amazing. I was gripped and on the edge of my seat.

Rosie2000 · 10/01/2020 23:45

Emotionally draining-what a film. At the end everyone sat still and didn’t move for at least 5 minutes.

Lizze87 · 10/01/2020 23:50

Such a good film! The bit with the rat made me jump out of my seat!

FuckyNel · 11/01/2020 12:13

Going to see this tonight - good tip about tissues!

EnidBlyton · 11/01/2020 13:47

want to see this.

Filmtalk · 11/01/2020 18:20

I thought it was fantastic. Don't want to say too much as I see there are posters who haven't watched it but it wasn't quite what I was expecting.

CormoranStrike · 11/01/2020 22:04

Our cinema was packed and utterly silent throughout.

Even walking out there was a hushed reverence.

Very good and so cleverly shot.

FuckyNel · 11/01/2020 22:07

Brilliant film

Snowy111 · 11/01/2020 22:09

Incredible. And so sad.

Cookiedough123 · 11/01/2020 22:12

I watched it last night and thought it was a fantastic film. It really hooked me into the story

Filmtalk · 11/01/2020 22:18

The cinematography was amazing but I think it was the drama of the storyline which surprised me. It was very gripping.

CherryPavlova · 11/01/2020 22:27

Very good film.

IHaveBrilloHair · 11/01/2020 22:30

Going on Tuesday, really looking forward to it.

rookiemere · 11/01/2020 22:47

Just seen it - booked it as a treat for DHs birthday. Thought it was excellent, needed to go for a wee but there was no single point in the film where I did not want to know what happened next, so I managed to wait. Excellent cinematography and such a wonderful script and acting.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 12/01/2020 02:01

Amazing! I was exhausted by the end Very emotional too.

mrsjg · 12/01/2020 18:38

Me and DH saw this today. Wow, what a film - amazing. You are on alert all the time. Really clever how it's shot and hope it cleans up at the awards.

Went to see it this evening. Speechless, it was the best film I've seen for years, because it was just about as true to the actual reality as you could have. I hope the actors and Director Sam Mendes get well deserved recognition.

Interesting credit at the end to Sam's grandfather who had told him stories about WW1 which Sam wove into the 1917 story.

LoveNote · 13/01/2020 05:48

It was good

All those young men. Gets me every time. Ds was with me, he’s 17 and wants to follow his dads footsteps (and grandad who was a prisoner of war) into the army

He wouldn’t have got past the first dead horse! They were all so so young. Our cinema was silent also

cathyandclare · 13/01/2020 19:37

Fantastic film. Beautifully shot and directed, but mostly made by the performances of the two main characters- subtle, moving and believable.

It was so tense and compelling, there was no down time to escape to the loo. I had to sprint out at the end!

I've only seen two films this year, this and Little Women, and they've the been incredible. Saw a preview of another film with George McKay ( True History of the Kelly Gang) and he was fabulous in that too. I think he's going to go far- although I suppose he already has!

cathyandclare · 13/01/2020 19:38

both been incredible

rosegoldwatcher · 13/01/2020 22:02

We saw it tonight. The best film by far that I have seen since Black 47. The score was wonderful and I wasn't surprised to see that Thomas Newman composed it.
Think I must attempt to see all of those films shortlisted for the Best Picture Oscar this year...
