Not quite sure what to make if it. It was a weird cross between David Attenborough and Disney. It seemed a bit flat as the animals obviously lacked the emotions that their cartoon counterparts had..

Just seen it, I feel the same as you.

Dandelionplease · 07/08/2019 09:09

And it really upset me lol

rosegoldwatcher · 07/08/2019 20:07

I saw it this afternoon. (No kids - just 2 of us old dears!) We loved it.
It was funnier than the animated version, I thought.
Favourite line? Timon: [Timon's assessing the barren, skeleton-ridden Pride Rock] "Talk about a fixer-upper. I think you went heavy on the carcass."

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 08/08/2019 21:56

Still got emotional mainly cause the music. Definitely lacking a lot. Think because it was relying on voices and some weren't that great.
Can you feel the love tonight.. In the day!

Plus the walk up Pride rock just seemed so rushed!

Propertyofhood · 08/08/2019 22:02

I did enjoy it, largely because of the music. But I agree that the animals lacked the emotion sometimes, and some of the lines were just really flat. The other thing I didn't like was how they stuck to the original script line for line in some places, but then deviated in others, but the new lines weren't as good? Surely either stick the same completely or deviate completely? Some of the new lines were really quite crap.

And I was really disappointed that they did a really rubbish version of 'Be Prepaaaaaaared'!

Comefromaway · 08/08/2019 22:10

I’ve not seen it. Ds age 15 has. He said it looked spectacular and the music is great but it felt emotionless.

WanderingTrolley1 · 15/08/2019 06:54

I preferred it to the original.

PrincessScarlett · 18/08/2019 18:34

Totally agree that the Be Prepared version was rubbish compared to the original. I missed Jeremy Irons Scar.

And yes it did lack emotion.

I enjoyed it but felt somewhat disappointed.

WTF0ver · 21/08/2019 01:02

I enjoyed it but it didn't have the emotional impact of the original. Characters weren't as fleshed out and lacked expression.

Certain wording that packed a punch to the gut were missing from pivotal scenes. Shame.

The music was nice as was the 'cinematography'. And baby Simba was very cute.

NotHereToMakeFriends · 30/08/2019 16:49

I went in wanting to hate it and walked out not disappointed but not overwhelmed.

It's okay but it just doesn't have the same emotion as the original and I did not need to see a real-looking lion die. That was too much.

This being said, I went home and watch the original the very next day. Always will be my favourite Disney film.
