Aladdin

Saw the new Aladdin yesterday and found it so much better then thought it would be. Loved the production and the colour of it all.
Was also surprised how much enjoyed Will smiths genie. Took a while to get used to with the singing part but once all got going loved it.

I also loved it! Thought it was just really nice and loved will smith's genie!

I agree. Just saw it today and I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would.

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would however it just didn't have the magic of the animated version in my eyes. I much prefer Robin Williams' depiction of the genie - I found Will Smith irritating in parts. Loved the addition of Jasmine's song though, really powerful meaning behind it!

I liked it but much prefer the stage show - went to see it last May and it was amazing - a really spectacular production in every way. I’m not a big musicals fan but if you love Aladdin and get the chance, watch it in the west end. My kids (teenagers!) sat there open mouthed throughout, it was their first theatre experience and they loved it!

I thought it was super - personally didn't like the girl power inclusion bit. overall it was great.

Also really enjoyed it, chuffed I went to see it at the cinema as the colours were just so beautiful on the big screen.

Wasn't hugely familiar with the original (don't think we had it as kids, and DDs don't have it as they prefer the CGI of.Frozen / Inside Out over cartoons) so I don't know if I was more open than many to liking it for its own sake rather than comparing it to the original?

Sorry, realise this is an old thread but just watched this on NowTV. I think it’s better than the cartoon. Will Smith did a good job. He reminded me of Gok Wan at times. He should do more comedy. I didn’t mind his version of “Friend Like Me”. “Prince Ali” was amazing, like the huge musical numbers you used to get in classic movies, much better than the version in the cartoon. “A Whole New World” was better in the cartoon. The leads did a good job too.
I didn’t understand why Disney were making live-action versions of their back catalogue but the songs are too good not to be performed again and it’s good to update stories sometimes.

My personal opinion for Aladdin. It's a boring movie.
