Watching this for the first time since it was realeased.
I was much younger then and didn’t get the characters .
Watching it again a good decade on.

I totally didn't get it either.

I get the messed up characters. Individually that have their own demons some of whom I can recognise . Together they are a perfect storm for the films climax.

It is awful to watch in retrospect.

I thought when I first watched it that the Annette Bening character got a harsh deal, and that it was entirely too indulgent of Lester. I can see that being intensified if I watched it again.

I agree , awful to watch in today’s days and age and yet I’m watching it and find aspects relatable. I have worked with the general public for 25 + years and married twice. These characters are out there.

Hated it at the time.

Loved it but only watched it once back in the day. Thought Annette Bening was brilliant - she was great in The Grifters too - great movie🥍
