I came across a thread from 2017 where posters were taking about their favourite old movies which put me in mind of a french film I saw as a child. It has stayed with me for years, it was called L'argent de poche, I believe, and was directed by Truffaut. It must be 30 years since I saw it but has stayed with me all these years. Am I alone in this or do others feel the same?

When I was a child I was ill & home quite a lot & used to watch the afternoon film on C4 - watched loads of old films & came to love Some of them, still watch them now : Singin' in the Rain, Guys 'n' Dolls, Calamity Jane, so many others.

I don't have any favorites from my childhood. I barely went to movies at all until I was at college.

So, to me, "old films" are the marvelous ones I began to see as an adult. Certainly better than anything I would have seen as a child - although I'm impressed by any family that would take a child to see Truffaut.
