I've go a Cineworld card so will happily go to see anything even if I think it might be crap.
In the past week I have seen 3 films that pass the Bechtel test - but were they any good?
Red Joan; Judi Dench was excellent, but the young Joan was not. Twee, irritating and simpering, yes. Excellent, no.
Based on a real life woman (Melitta Norwood) but via a heavily fictionalized novel, this should have been good, but wasn't. So soporific that my dh (who usually likes twee films) fell asleep.
Little.; fun, but run of the mill body swap comedy. Good performances from both leads, but a couple of scenes that appeared to sexulise a child were slightly unsettling.
Greta. I went to see this with low expectations, not an original plot; after a brief relationship a psychopath starts stalking their victim. I thought this was excellent! Genuinely chilling with lots of jump scared and a barnstorming performance from the actor playing Greta. No one fell asleep during this film!
