Went to see Wild Rose this morning (on my own - a rare treat). I absolutely loved it. The performances were excellent (especially Jessie Buckley’s) and it was fantastically written and shot. Rose was such a complex character - she made so many terrible decisions, but it was so hard to dislike her for it.
Anyone else seen it?

I really enjoyed it.Good as Julie Walters is I had begun to feel other actresses should get a shot at playing the roles she always seems to get,but actually loved her quiet, but strong performance as the grandma. And Jess Buckley is a real talent.A realistic and believable plot too.

I'm really going to try and get to it over the long weekend. Glad to hear it's good. I took a quick look at the soundtrack album on amazon and I love some of the songs on it.

Best film of the year.

I finally got to see it and it was wonderful. The cinema was pretty full and you could tell the audience really enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed it. I saw it with my husband who was warned in advance he would probably hate it as it's too feel- good for him and he has a limited tolerance for country music. We both loved it- mainly because Julie Walters and Jessie Buckley were so good.

I don't get het up about whether or not a film passes the Bechdel test (it's by no means a given that passing it makes a film interesting or entertaining) but if it does bother you, Wild Rose passes with flying colours.

I finally saw it! Really loved it, Jessie Buckley was just mesmerising.

I saw it recently and loved it. Jessie Buckley was great in it as was Julie Walters.
I thought the young girl playing the daughter was brilliant in her part.

Loved it!

I've looked for this on Netflix but can't find it. Other than DVD are there any other options. I saw Jessie Buckley at a festival in the summer and she was brilliant, plus of course in Judy recently.

If you have Amazon Prime it is on there.

EnidBlyton · 03/02/2020 23:34

Saw it on Amazon Prime, after searching for it after Baftas last night, really enjoyed it

squashyhat · 04/02/2020 10:39

In the end I got it on Google play. Really enjoyed it even though belief had to be suspended a lot! Did it win at the BAFTAS?

Mockersisrightasusual · 04/02/2020 18:51

It is superb, and you can find a very young Jessie on YouTube singing on a telly talent show. She was fab then.

As I said elsewhere, you need to suspend your disbelief. The chances of a convicted heroin smuggler getting a visa to go to Nashville are ....slim.

But here's hoping Mary Steenburgen (yes, her) gets the Oscar for writing the song.

LOVED it Grin Jessie Buckley was totally convincing from troubled teen to..... fantastic music and the faces of her daughter and Sophie O at the end made me beam.
