Has anyone seen this film and if so would you recommend it?

I saw it last week and really enjoyed it. I know it’s a cliche but it’s a “feel good” film, there’s singing, beautiful scenery and a fab uplifting story. I left with a smile on my face.

Hollowvictory · 30/03/2019 10:26

That's good to hear!

ScreamingValenta · 30/03/2019 10:28

That sounds great! I'm looking for a 'cheer up' film that's not too demanding.

Toddlerteaplease · 30/03/2019 16:08

Lots of shots of the Royal Albert bridge and I love shanties

SurgeHopper · 30/03/2019 16:09

Is this on Netflix or in theatres?

Whitney168 · 30/03/2019 16:09

Took my Mum to see it a couple of weeks back and thoroughly enjoyed it myself - very easy-going and lovely.

bruffin · 30/03/2019 16:12

It's a lovely film

Toddlerteaplease · 30/03/2019 16:33

My parents are very involved with the RNLI and are puzzling why they make it look like an independent lifeboat when it actually isn't.

LizzieSiddal · 30/03/2019 16:33

Surge no you have to go to an actual cinema, like in the olden days Grin.

MeetOnTheEggs · 30/03/2019 16:37

We bought their CD when the DCs were younger and they played it non stop for months so I'm word perfect on the songs, really looking forward to seeing this.

Puffykins · 30/03/2019 16:40

I LOVED it. It's not a film that's redefining the art of filmography, but it's super enjoyable.

Hollowvictory · 30/03/2019 17:07

Toddler, because it's a fictionalised account. Guess what, all the people in the film are actors not the real people.

marcopront · 30/03/2019 17:13

I've heard it is very good.
I know the person who did the stills photography.

Toddlerteaplease · 30/03/2019 19:21

Yes, I've just realised it's fictionalised. I thought it was the true story. Still really enjoyed it.

cafesociety · 03/04/2019 19:42

Wasn't going to go but had a free afternoon. Didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did. I thought it was great.

Hollowvictory · 04/04/2019 07:51

Thor enjoyed it, thanks for the recommendation

MyOtherProfile · 06/04/2019 17:59

My parents are very involved with the RNLI and are puzzling why they make it look like an independent lifeboat when it actually isn't.
The guys were wearing kit with RNLI on so it definitely was meant to be an RNLI lifeboat, plus Alwyn says they were granted a new lifeboat after thr old one went down so that also sounds like RNLI.

MyOtherProfile · 06/04/2019 18:00

Just wondering if it is a success. We loved it but the cinema was empty.

Hollowvictory · 06/04/2019 18:09

@MyOtherProfile they were wearing RNLI style kit but without the RNLI branding which is why the pp was asking about why it was presented as an independent lifeboat rather than an RNLI one.

MyOtherProfile · 06/04/2019 21:22

@Hollowvictory nope.it definitely had the RNLI letters on. I've seen the film twice and specifically noticed it the second time.

DH is a massive snob & cynic - refuses to watch "fluffy" films, reads only massive miserable philosophical tomes - and had to take kids to see it on a school trip. He sheepishly admitted he loved it and said all the kids did too.
