Just saw this. I am not a huge fan of horror, but I liked this. Quirky. Jordan Peele has the ability to make horror funny at moments. I think Elizabeth Moss really enjoyed being a zombie!
Anyone else seen this?

Yes! I was on edge the whole time. I don’t do well with horrors Grin

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 29/03/2019 23:59

Yes! Me, DH and DDs saw it last week. All absolutely loved it, weird but good weird. Not massively scary tbh but I do love an odd film, and this is an odd film! Lupita Nyong’o is brilliant in this, as are all her ‘family’. And we are now all obsessed with Les Fleur by Minnie Riperton.

hammeringinmyhead · 30/03/2019 20:14

I was a little disappointed. The ending was quite obvious and the reason for the existence of the doppelgangers wasn't really expanded on.

LassOfFyvie · 31/03/2019 04:44

I loved it. The acting was wonderful by all concerned. I didn't think the ending was obvious.

LassOfFyvie · 31/03/2019 04:46

I thought there were several very scary moments.

I saw Jordan Peele's first film Get Out tonight. It's excellent too.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 31/03/2019 22:09

Googled after... Some clever themes and meanings and all.

Enjoyed it! The creepy faces and music though urghhh. Loved the ballet dance fight scene!

So glad I've found this thread!

Watched it last night and LOVED it. As a few of you have said it wasn't quite the 'horror ' I was expecting and was very quirky. I spent about two hours when I got home googling articles about all the symbolism then couldn't slept .. had that 5 on It song on a loop in my head Grin

One question I have is why was Red the only one of the Tethered who went up to the surface? Surely any one of them could have before her?

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 03/04/2019 20:33

Maybe the others hadn't worked out how to get up the escalator that went down. That's the bit that got me lol.

Yeah I got lost in a googleness reading about the themes and meanings and this and that.

OneToThree · 07/04/2019 09:37

Saw it last night, absolutely loved it.

SouthWestmom · 07/04/2019 09:40

Is it horrible? dd wants me to go but I can't watch gore or slasher type stuff. Don't mind creepy stuff.

LewTrenchard · 20/04/2019 12:38

Only seen the trailer, so can someone advise without spoilers - does it involve cruelty/harm to pets? Answer will determine whether one of our family can handle it or would be better left at home...

SouthWestmom · 20/04/2019 14:50

I can't remember anything like that so if there was, it didn't stick with me

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 20/04/2019 20:56

No cruelty to pets that I recall , or any animal.

I enjoyed it , it makes you think . Get Out is also very good .

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 22/04/2019 21:13

Regards cruelty to pets ... there are verbal references to animals as a food source however you don't see anything and lots of clips of the animals concerned hopping about happily! Actually quite seasonal when I think about it ... Grin

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 23/04/2019 13:26

Hadn't thought about the season , with the rabbits, @tellmewhen . It certainly does fit with the season though Grin

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 23/04/2019 19:08

And your username...perfect Grin

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 24/04/2019 09:15

That's true @tellmewhen Grin

From a childrens book I once read my little girl (not so little now) called Carrot Top and Cotton Tails .

Does the trailer feature the room with the rows and rows of rabbits in cages? That scene worried me as I thought it might lead to experiments on rabbits. It doesn't.

Etino · 28/04/2019 20:15

Just marking my place to come back. I loved Get Out and Sorry to Bother You and sat through the execrable Wild Rose instead last night. Angry
I’m going to try and see it this week.

AnnaNimmity · 28/04/2019 20:21

i saw it last night too. It wasn't at all a horror film, and if you suspend disbelief about the hundreds of plot holes (and maybe see it as an allegory about racism etc instead) then it's ok.

I preferred Get Out.

Sound track good though!

No cruelty to bunnies.

LassOfFyvie · 28/04/2019 20:30

No cruelty to bunnies

No but if LewTrenchards family member is particularly sensitive the scene with all the bunnies in cages might trigger pondering on the fact that bunnies in cages don't usually have a happy life. The scene could be mentioned, as it doesn't give the plot away, with the assurance there is no cruelty.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 29/04/2019 15:12

Lass also the way that opening scene was filmed (panning out to reveal more and more of the furry fellas to set to the "nails down a blackboard " music) really ramps up the feeling that something unpleasant could (but doesn't) happen. At least not to the bunnies Grin

Do you know, it's a few weeks now since I watched it and there are so many clever details that I want to watch it again!

Lots of good horror references in Get Out especially linked to the Shining. Apparently J Peele is a massive fan.
