Can anyone help me find this film?

I saw a terrible film a couple of years ago - it was about a man who owed money to some friends, who then took him all over the place (I’m hazy about this part) trying to extort it back from him, with the usual near death type experiences of this type of film. But at the end, there was a big reveal where he ended up at his own birthday party, his friends said it was all an elaborate joke, and they cancelled the debt. The main protagonist had a slightly foreign (German?) accent, and it looked like it was shot using a very cheap camera. It was hilariously bad. Can anyone help? I’ve googled and searched and looked on lists of ‘100 worst films’ but I think it’s too obscure for that.

It sounds like The Game but that's Michael Douglas (and it was his brother) not obscure person with German accent.

I agree, it does sound like The Game, I thought it was fine.

Actually his brother was played by Sean Penn. But this isn't helping you, did a quick Google but nothing.

Is the main actor in anything else you can think of (or any of the actors)?

Thanks for the replies - it’s not The Game, although it does sound similar. In this film the guy definitely didn’t know he was being set up. It’s too obscure to have any famous actors I think.
