Anyone seen it? Thought it was a bit slow to get going but improved. Quite enjoyed it in the end. The scene where Anne signs her name on the marriage certificate was very moving. Love the setting of Fear no more the heat of the sun. Dcat is not impressed by my singing it to her!

Yes, saw it earlier this week - it was ok I suppose

Couldn’t work out why they had Judy Dench playing Anne Hathaway - thought it was his mother at first! Very strange casting - Anne Hathaway wasn’t THAT much older than him.

Very much an ensemble style production. Good script by Ben Elton with a feminist slant.
Clever.

Yes I wondered about Judy Dench. She's far to old. I was a bit put off by Will clearly wearing foundation!

I was distracted by Kenny's prosthetic nose - way too Ron Moody/Fagin! And I agree that Judi Dench was far too old. In the end the film seemed a little pointless - just a vehicle for delivery a feminist slant.

It was utter utter shite. We nearly walked out.

Pretentious
Appalling dialogue ("I just signed with a stupid cross" ffs)
Well acted if you like seeing Me Branagh acting Mr Branagh
Riddled with cinematic cliches (ooh autumn and dusk and night = decline)
What the bugger was that bit about his Puritan daughter getting verbally abused in church? That went no where and contributed zip to the story.

The moment Dench said you can't come to bed with me, didn't u just know at some point that wd be used in reverse to indicate a rapprochement?

The naff squeezing in of bits of shakespears own writing just so there was something decent to listen to but also highlighting the ineptitude of Ben.

I could go on.

It could not end quickly enough for me. Sat there thinking hurry up and die Will, so we can all go home.

buckingfrolicks · 16/02/2019 17:10

But the feminist stuff was bilge. Just that tosser Branagh wanting to make it something other than a Ken-Fest.

(Told u I cd go on!)

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 16/02/2019 17:26

It was dreary. I was very disappointed by it.

Dowser · 22/02/2019 12:23

It was ok
I couldn’t get over how an 80 plus women was playing a 60 year old.
Was really wrong that.
