one of the best films Ive seen in ages. Catherine Zeta Jones character is bizarre and doesnt really need to be there, and some of the other parts dont make too much sense either, but all together a brilliant film. Saw it twice whilst I was away, and hoping to see it again when its out on the cinema (not sure if it is already or not)

can't agree with this one - it's OK, but not fantastic: too smultzy re the CZJ and Tom Hanks relationship. didn't do it for me - if I'd known what it was like I wouldn't have gone to see it at cinema. It's fine for a video.

agree with lalaa - not the best flick this summer

I have seen this, did not think I would like it but i thought it was great. Am definitely going through a phase of enjoying 'happy and hopeful' films, i loved that fifty fifty thing!!! It was very smultzy, but i left the cinema feeling good so what the hey!"!!

right, can someone tell me how it ends? went to see it with a friend - first night at the cinema since dd was born - and dh texted to say that dd was crying hysterical and there was nothing he could do to calm her down, so i left!!!! (we both did). got to the bit where he took her for dinner on the balcony and she got upset and left because of her past 'man'. he came out to talk to her.......and my phone went.........

anyone?

They had a little kiss in front of a fountain he'd built for her.
He told her his predicament (must have done) and she got her ex-man to get him the bit of paper he needed to get out of the airport. She went back to ex-man. Got piece of paper, went to leave, but found out had to be signed my top bloke there (the short, balding guy with glasses). He wouldn't sign it, but eventually, all his security staff just let Tom Hanks out. Somewhere here, his country's internal war got resolved. He got his last beer mat signed by the jazz player he specifically had come to see (unfinished business for his father, now dead, I think) then turned round, back to airport and home. Saw CZJ at airport on his way back in to go home.
That's it. I've remembered the facts, but not necessarily in the right order. Hangover - whisky fest last night. Sorry!

thank you lalaa!

I love everything Tom Hanks has ever been in, thought this was okay. enjoyable, watchable but not up ther in my top ...25!

I liked it but I think that the plot was a bit cobbled together. The Jazz Music thing was a real 'device'. CZJ is just an unempathetic actress - I just can't get invested in any of her characters. But I love Tom and it was kind of interesting to see him podgy and older.

It was so Hollywood to take a real story and then change everything in it except for the bit about a man was stuck in an airport. The true story might have been more interesting - it would have definitely been more substantial.

Given that it is so hard for me to get to the movies at all I am just happy to see nearly anything though.
