Agree subject is interesting and important but the violence just sounds too much for me.
Am now trying to get the idea of Helena Bonham Carter turning up in ridiculous make-up out of my mind...

yes the sacking of the village is pretty bad (children)

but you know its going to have a fairly happy ending (gibson)

I saw this a few months ago and agree it's an amazing film. One of the best I've ever seen.

very simple storyline, but really well done

The chase is like 'Ray Mears on acid' (TM -dh)

loved the film...even made me cry in a few parts lol. some of it was quite sad.

It is very good and very gory (but necessary to the film) Overall a beautiful film to watch.

i couldnt watch it past the first 20 minutes. it literally make me sick.

Brill film enjoyed every minute....hope theres a sequal.

I liked it a lot too.

I expected to hate it. I have a lot of Mexican friends who were quite vitriolic about the representation of the Mayan civilisation in the film.

But it was very very good.

I heard about the vitriol but I thought it was not about the representation of the mayans but about the one of the aztecs. (Mayans=peaceful educated people, aztecs=blood thirsty population dominating the other populations).

Rather bloodthirsty, hid behind my hand on a few occasions to miss some of the guts and gore spilling out.

Not often you see a movie with a water birth.

I think this is a great film. The birth scene very good I think.

I think it's a fantastic film, the birth seen was excellent and I found myself pushing along! Might watch it again now it's on iplayer!
