Just got Netflix - recommend me some films please

I know I’m very late to the party but I’ve just signed up to Netflix as I’m currently feeling very sorry for myself with a bad throat infection and a heavy painful period and thought i’d treat myself to a rare day on the sofa.

Please recommend me some of your favourite films on there.

My top genres are:
Horror
Thriller
Disaster movies (Day After Tomorrow type stuff)
Romantic comedy

From your list it might not be your thing, but give dumplin a go- it's the most heartwarming film I seen in a long time without being sickly sweet and I smiled all the way through it

I see About a Boy is on there which is one of my all time favourite films.

Watching with interest
Can’t do horror. A 15 rating has me twitching...18 has me going green.
I shall look out for dumpling..anything else

I’m going to watch Birdbox, no idea what it’s like but there is a big thread about it which is usually a good sign

My favourite ... Madam Secretary - it has all of your top genres : horror, thriller, disaster, romance and throw in some bureaucracy and politics. It's a pity though that it runs until the third season in Netflix.

I found bird box dull.
