Such a spell binding film. First film I’ve been to in ages where the audience still remained seated until the very end of the credits. Casting was amazing, cinema was full and everyone was commenting on how great it was. Thoroughly recommend it!

DH and I loved it Smile

secretfreckle · 28/10/2018 00:43

Just got back from watching it.
Was amazing! Loved the casting and how alike they were to the real people, the songs and concert parts, the clothes, cried when he and Mary broke up and when he got his diagnosis.
Rami Malik and the actors who played John Deacon and Brian May had all the mannerisms just right.
All the reviews I read were very negative, but I have been looking forward to it for months and it did not disappoint.

Went last night and loved it

Casting was perfect
I cried a lot

Beautiful film

First film I've been to in a long time that I've thought about for the rest of the day. Worth going to for the music alone. Amazing.

Notfastjustfurious · 28/10/2018 19:15

Oh no, my dh is a massive Queen fan and was looking forward to seeing this film for months but all the negative reviews really put him off as he didn't want to be disappointed so we saw Halloween instead. We only have very occasional evening childcare so that's it now till its rental release. Poor dh. (and Halloween really wasn't all that good despite its great reviews)

Lightsdown · 28/10/2018 19:34

Can't your DH go on his own or with a mate. I sometimes do- it's fine.

chumbal · 28/10/2018 19:42

Would it be appropriate for a ten & 1/2 year old?

rookiemere · 28/10/2018 20:00

Notfast I would really encourage your DH as a Queen fan to see it at the cinema - I don't think it would be half as good on the small screen.I went on my own as friend had poorly DC.

I probably wouldn't take a 10 yr old. Whilst there is not too much explicit shown, there is a scene in a club that would take some explaining and a few mature scenes

YesIDidNameChangeForThis · 28/10/2018 20:05

We went to see it and loved it! Everybody in the cinema clapped when it finished! Agree that Rami was excellent, and "Brian May" and "John Deacon" too..did you know that Deacon was the little boy from Jurassic Park?

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 28/10/2018 20:26

DDs and I saw it this morning. Never seen the cinema so packed on a Sunday morning! The critics must have been watching a different film to the one we saw, brilliant and quite moving. But I seemed to be the only person in the cinema that got the joke when Mike Myers character basically referenced Wayne’s World when dismissing Bohemian Rhapsody as a single, I did quite a loud snorting laugh Grin

LadyLannister · 28/10/2018 21:00

Chumbal - I took my 2 10 year olds and they really enjoyed it. They are quite mature 10 year olds but I don’t think that there was anything in it too shocking for a 10 year old.

chumbal · 28/10/2018 21:56

Thanks ladylannister for the advice my kids are quite mature and I am very honest with them about different lifestyles but I wondered how explicit it would be.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 28/10/2018 21:59

I'm guessing they've toned down the years Freddie was throwing week long parties with cocaine carrying dwarf butlers and the like.

Notfastjustfurious · 28/10/2018 23:21

I've told dh the reviews on this thread and suggested he go himself after work one night this week or with his mate who helpfully reminded him of all the bad reviews just as we were heading into the cinema.

Saymaname · 28/10/2018 23:37

We went today, not especially into Queen but really enjoyed. Yes saw that about the Jurassic park boy, wouldn’t have recognised him.

HatofCromwell · 29/10/2018 09:37

Chumbal, definitely OK for a 10.5 year old. Roger and John specifically wanted it to be a film that was suitable for families, which is partly why is took so long for the film to be made, previous directors had wanted to show all the sex and drugs in detail. Assuming your child is aware that some men happen to be homosexuals there is nothing scary about this film - they probably won't feel the heartache like an adult would, but that's a different issue.

brizzledrizzle · 29/10/2018 19:14

It's on at the IMAX near us so we're going to see it later this week - I can't wait.

rightreckoner · 29/10/2018 19:19

Loved it. And as PP have said the casting is brilliant. Loved Freddie but the casting of Brian May was astonishing. I actually thought it was Brian May. All the mannerisms spot on.

WildIrishRose1 · 29/10/2018 23:36

Another life-long fan and I loved it. Remember- the eponymous song was rubbished on its release.

Ironfloor269 · 29/10/2018 23:55

Such brilliance. Beautiful, beautiful movie. Poor Freddie. Cut down in the prime of his life.

Beansandcoffee · 30/10/2018 00:01

Saw it tonight with three girlfriends. We all loved it.

luckycat007 · 30/10/2018 01:04

It was WONDERFUL!!

AloeVeraDuckworth · 30/10/2018 01:38

We loved it too. The casting was brilliant but the Brian May guy was superb, it was hard to believe at times that it wasn't actually him, right down to the guitar playing.

onaroundabout · 30/10/2018 09:10

amazing film. i have never sat through to the end of the credits before. just fab.

Theimpossiblegirl · 30/10/2018 11:52

I thought it was amazing and very well done. Much better than the reviews led me to expect.
