I thought it was awesome. Havent seen much of Blake Lively since Gossip Girl and the age of Adeline so it was good to see her in an edgier more adult role, although at times there were small hints of Serena there. Maybe its just her style. The plot with her brother felt was a bit unnecessary and a bit rushed at the end. A good amount of mystery, not to the levels of searching but enough to be entertaining.

Just seen it - completely the opposite!

Thought it couldn't pick a genre and stick to it.

Ending was a mosh mash of every thriller ever.

IhatetheArchers · 22/09/2018 23:21

It was far more fun than I expected; the trailer made it look like it was one of those 'Gone Girl' clones. But it was more of a slightly black comedy.

Ending was totally mad.

JustDanceAddict · 25/09/2018 21:59

Surely it was a black comedy!!
Brother Fucker made me pmsl.

SouthWestmom · 26/09/2018 00:15

We didn't think it was clever enough to be a black comedy. It sort of switched between genres.

JollyAndBright · 26/09/2018 22:20

We’ve just watching this.

My friend read the book and warned me that it wasn’t a strong story so I didn’t go with high expectations.

I liked the acting, the actors were so good it took me a while to realise the story was weak.
I 100% agree that this movie didn’t know what it was trying to be.

There were so many bits that seems like it was trying to be a black comedy, but then it was a thriller and then a crime/mystery.
There were so many pointless things added into the story that didn’t make sense or weren’t explained at all well.
The characters all seemed to make far too many abnormal choices to make the story semi believable and the ending was just ridiculous.

It’s a shame because it’s had a bloody amazing marketing campaign.

I hadn’t seen a trailer or even heard of this till tonight when a friend persuaded me to go, and I loved it.

Blake Lively is very good, Anna Kentucky’s character thankfully moved on from twee and the black comedy - although utterly fantastical - was fun.

MsOliphant · 05/10/2018 23:59

I’d like Anna Kendrick to not play Anna Kendrick. I still thought she was gawky and twee and couldn’t see her as a ‘mom’. I thought BL was fab.

I loved the first two thirds of the film.

Ending was ludicrous.

Loved the soundtrack.

Annoyed me that Sean sounded Aussie and was meant to be British.

SouthWestmom · 06/10/2018 09:43

I don't 'get' Anna Kendrick. In the music ones I thought she was the mum or teacher she looked so much older. Is she meant to be prissy in this or the together one?

Dancergirl · 14/10/2018 23:38

Just saw this tonight with 15 year old dd. It was weird! Kept changing throughout. Started off looking like a fairly bland click flick....then it became a bit spooky (well I thought so anyway)....then by the end dd and I were in fits of giggles because it got so stupid!

purpleme12 · 14/11/2020 23:32

I thought it was really good. Really enjoyed it

Skipsurvey · 22/11/2020 08:37

i stuck with it, but would not watch again.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 23/11/2020 11:31

I thought it was really, really weird. It couldn't really decide what genre it was either.
