Did anyone else see 'I Feel Pretty' yet?

What did you think?

Not seen it yet but when I heard about it I thought I'd enjoy it as I enjoyed Trainwreck but it hasn't had good reviews and to be honest I didn't find the trailer particularly amusing.

Toying with the idea of seeing the Guernsey Literary & Potato Pie film whatever it is called

Horsedogbird · 05/05/2018 18:02

I saw it last night and I liked it. Feel good, funny film.

Italiangreyhound · 05/05/2018 18:36

It was very good. Funny in places but actually more thought provoking than funny.

Thanks for the replies.

@Horsedogbird I think it was a feminist film, do you agree?

Because I think it is a bit of a feminist film, waiting for people to disagree with me, I've posted 'Anyone seen 'I Feel Pretty' yet and want to give me your feminist perspective on it?' in Feminist chat, - in case you want to join me there too.

Thanks to those who replied here.

@LaGattaNera It's definitely worth watching. Very funny. But the other sounds good too. I think I would see them both!

I'm not sure about it being a feminist film but I definitely think it was thought provoking and I liked the message it was getting across in particular the bit at the end about when we are little and have the confidence and innocence to just be ourselves and then as we get older it changes and I can really relate to that. We should all love ourselves more for who we are eh?

CremeBrulee · 05/05/2018 19:27

Haven't seen I Feel Pretty - I just don't 'get' Amy Schumer and other films of hers I have seen I haven't liked at all. No idea why, I want to like her but it leaves me cold.

I did the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society today though and thoroughly recommend.

Horsedogbird · 05/05/2018 19:28

I've heard of Amy but never seen her in anything before. I quite liked her. I really liked Michelle Williams in it too.

JiminyBillyBob · 05/05/2018 19:32

It was ok but all the funny bits were in the trailer.

It was thought provoking though.

Glendee · 12/05/2018 12:37

I went to see it last week with my DD1 and we both really enjoyed it. I do think it is a feminist film (it passes the beschdel test for a start.)
We like Amy Schumer’s stand up (a bit rude but hey, it’s very true in parts!) and we also enjoyed Snatched with Goldie Hawn.

Italiangreyhound · 12/05/2018 18:37

@Horsedogbird , yes I totally agree, message at end was good.

@Glendee not seen Amy Schumer’s stand up. Where did you see it?

OP posts:
Glendee · 12/05/2018 19:38

Italiangreyhound it’s on Now tv: Inside Amy Schumer.

calzone · 07/06/2018 16:11

I went on my own and was surprisingly moved by it at the end.

I enjoyed it.
