I've got a bit of a girl crush on Jessie Buckley (she's amazing). Just seen her in Beast - what a film. It had the same claustrophobic feel to it as The Cement Garden.

Just wondering whether any other Mumsnetters have seen it yet (if not, it's well worth doing so!), so we can discuss it?

I haven’t seen it but want too; it’s not playing anywhere near me unfortunately. Hopefully the local independent art house cinema will play it.
I like the Jessie Buckley. Does it have Johnny Flynn (without the Sussex wit😊) too? just love his song for The Detectorist

Oh, yes it does, Glendee - loved Detectorists (and all the songs) but hadn't clocked the connection.

Beast was showing at all the local cinemas here, even Odeon and Cineworld.

Would really recommend seeing it.

I'm slightly disappointed by this. The cinematography, use of sound and the performances were good (however I thought Geraldine J's abusive mother was a bit "by numbers") but the ending was predictable.

To some extent it was but (trying hard not to give away spoilers) I was still confused by what we were being led to believe in the final two scenes...

I'm not sure there is a definitive answer. You can either choose to believe what she was told and that prompts her actions, or it's a lie and who is the bigger beast?
