and thought it was bloody good, and well made without any drama or spin added.

Really made me shiver, and about the horrors of that day but from a film POV it was marvellous

is it worth watching?? I keep seeing it advertised on sky.

Flower3554 · 15/05/2007 16:21

Is it not just the same film as Flight 93 which is a good bit older?

mosschops30 · 15/05/2007 16:41

Whats Flight 93? This is the 9/11 one which uses no known actors and actually uses transcripts from ATC recorded on the day and actual convos passengers had with their loved one

wurly yeah deffo worth watching I sky+ it and glad I did, brilliantly acted, not a hollywood tosser in sight

I liked this film, buut thought the man playing the main man on the ground was a crap actor

JoolsToo · 15/05/2007 16:49

shan't bother, I think it's a bit icky making a film out this so soon.

I've seen all the documentaries, what more is there to know, except to have darmatised?

JoolsToo · 15/05/2007 16:50

or even dramatised

Flower3554 · 15/05/2007 16:50

Sorry, just been searching for the dvd. Note to self: clean out dvd cabinet

The dvd is called Flight 93 and the blurb says

Four terrorists wanted to turn Flight 93 into a weapon. Forty passengers and crew stopped it from reaching it's target.
It has no major names that I recognise, it says starring Jeffrey Nordling, Brendon Elliot, Kendall Cross, Ty Olsson, Monnae Michael.

It also states on the cover "A royalty per DVD sold goes to the Flight 93 memorial fund.

mosschops30 · 15/05/2007 16:51

which main man on the ground there were a few, do you mean the guy in ATC, I quite liked him.

Its not dramatised, thats why I liked it, there are no spangles or sparkly bits, its very like watching a documentary

i have forgotton which area he was in, been a while since I saw it.

mosschops30 · 15/05/2007 16:54

Not sure flowers, I know there was a lot of hype about this one when it came out because it wasnt so much a hollywood production just telling the story. I think some of the actors played their real parts (some of the ATC guys)

not the man watching the planes, with the earphones, the white haired man.

hertsnessex · 15/05/2007 16:55

watched this film - couldnt sleep properly that night - decided to leave my job the next day. life is too short.

that film brought to a head all of the other things that were wrong in my life right then - and how if it were me i would regret how i was working so hard and not seeing my boys as much as i should/could.

its a great film - very docu like.

cx

mosschops30 · 15/05/2007 16:58

dont know if we're thinking bout the same guy, he seemed to be co-ordinating all the ATC centres? I liked him, also liked the military personnel who just seemed to be struggling on the day with trying to comprehend what was going on and what to do about it.

I watched it last night and it was a very good film.

sidge · 15/05/2007 20:49

I thought this was one of the best films I had seen for ages. Very moving, no rugged-hero-saves-the-day crap, or wild American patriotism. I liked the fact they used real people for the air traffic controllers and military personnel rather than actors.

United 93 is a different film to Flight 93 - I believe Flight 93 was a made for TV movie and isn't as good.

mosschops30 · 16/05/2007 13:53

I still kept willing them to regain control of the plane, even though I knew the outcome, how weird is that!!

I loved this film, so brilliant, harrowing but a must see imo.
paul greengrass is so clever, loved the bourne identity/supremacy

mamama · 22/05/2007 04:04
