Oscars 2018 who's with me?!

Setting up thread for later, providing I can actually keep awake for it.
Frances should be a shoo-in for best actress. I know of its backlash but thought 3 billboards was vgd, woody harrelson nomination also well deserved.
Would like Silent child to win best short.
Will any of you be watching?

Will try to stay up. I’ve seen all of the Best Picture films and I think it’s the best set for a long time. Liked all of them - loved a lot of them.

My predictions:

Best Picture: The Shape of Water. Loved this curiously strange film - amazing performances and adored its oddness. Would be equally happy with Three Billboards though.

Best Actor - Gary Oldman, Darkest Hour. Just a stunning performance. A total and triumphant transformation by an incredible actor.

Best Actress. I’m so torn here - I think Frances McDormand will get it but I was mesmerised by Sally Hawkins in Shape of Water.

Best Supporting Actor - Sam Rockwell. Loved his portrayal of Dixon in Three billboards.

Best Supporting Actress - Octavia Spencer in The Shape of Water. Utterly brilliant.

Best Director - Guillermo de Toro.

Anyone else with predictions?

I don't have a problem with Sam Rockwell winning as his body of work is fanbloodytastic and he should have won every accolade going. One of my favourite actors. Plus, whatever you think of the redemption arc - and I am yet to be convinced that his character was redeemed - he played flawed brilliantly. I have a soft spot for three billboards as I saw it with my DD and she was blown away by it.
Supporting actress Allison Janey, another character actor. Octavia has won before, Allison hasn't...sometime s that swings it.

I haven't seen The Shape of Water or Darkest Hour.
I've only seen Ladybird and 3 Billboards

not long now...ryan seacrest is 4th spot on red carpet, allegedly some actresses will deliberately bypass him. My gaydar appears to be broken. Despite E saying not taking further action, an anonymous witness to his harassment has come forward and the metoo founder believes he should not be presenting.

Wasnt Ryan Seacrest married to a blonde presenter? I get him mixed up with the gay fella who does all the Real Housewives.

Im glad they arebt all wearing black tbh. I like the frocks its the best part.

allison janey has sleeves which would annoy the hell out of me.
i am cosy in bed but the cinema was doing oscars live with unlimited coffee and donuts...

The E! Coverage has been a lot different to usual. It seems like a lot of people have bypassed Ryan tonight given that they are 1.5hrs into the 2 hour show. There’s usually a lot more interviews

Usually they all seem to be falling over themselves to be interviewed by Ryan, I’m sure I’ve seen George clooney queuing to speak to him in previous years!!
