Film trailers

Is it me or is it a new trend that a trailer now gives away the entire plot of the film rendering it utterly pointless to go and see it as you know pretty much what is going to happen.

Classic example.

After seeing that I thought no need to see the film at all now.

I don't get it.

Yes I often think that while watching the trailers! But they are usually not the sort of films I'd choose to go and see anyway
