I am not a Royalist by any stretch of the imagination but I was intrigued to see this after all the good reviews about Helen Mirren.

Helen Mirren was good, it has to be said. Although she made the Queen more human than I imagined her to be.

The story was more about Princess Diana's death and the Royal reaction to it than about the Queen per sae. Not entirely sure why that title was chosen really.

Over all I would give it 4/5 as it gives a good explanation on why the Royals reacted in the way they did and, I think, a realistic view of what went on behind the scenes.

I thought Tony Blair came over as a soft git! Enjoyed it in the whole, although you have to remember it is still fiction.

The impersonation of TB was hilarious! (in terms of visuals)

I think TB probably was a soft git in the early days, we have to remember he was only in power a few months when it happened. That said, the writers were obviously not TB fans, LOL

Its a theory more than fiction I think. It is plausable that it happened largely in that way. Although I found it hard to swallow that the Royals sat there relying on the tv news for titbits of information, LOL.

I am a royalist and looking forward to seeing this movie

You'll probably like it because it makes you think you are in their company but the movie is not that royalist-frendly in my opinion as it is a conspiracy theory really.

I liked it. The Queen Mother and Prince Philip are portrayed as thick colonialist twats though, so it might not be for you, nadine!!

Agree it should have been called Death of Diana rather than the Queen.
I saw this a while back and can't believe the number of awards it got. Thought it was awful - just a montage of news footage from the time, with some completely fictional bits in betweeen that are meant to make you think that it's what actually happened.
The overreaction at the time annoyed me though so that wasn't a good place to start from!
I saw it on a plane, so very glad I didn't waste any money on it.

one thing the film did for me was make me dislike Cherie Blair even more than I already did.

Well I have just watched it and I thought it was fab. I did, however, think of MNetters when they showed all of those people crying in the streets.

I can't believe for one minute that the Queen would ever have had that conversation with Tblarrrr on the last meeting. She would have had so much more style than that.

And yes, I still can't stand Cherie Blair. She supposedly supports her husband in his job, but yet doesn't know that her office takes on jobs that are against the whole thing. Good for her in a way, bet she gets good head.

giddyfeet- You should watch 'Elizabeth' ( Helen mirren as elizbeth I) Outstanding- she is a fantastic actress- if you thought she was good in the Queen, you will be impressed by her performance in Elizabeth
