I just cried at a scene in which Kevin Costner took down a bathroom sign. This film is just bloody brilliant.

I particularly wondered if that were true, if it really happened. The discrimination was mind-boggling. I'm just so pleased the movie did well.

Watched that one a couple of months ago - superb film, thought provoking and eye opening too.

I cried at the same scene! Exactly what I needed to watch after the week I've had. What a story!!

Unfortunately not true. Whilst there were no 'coloured' loos in the building Katherine Johnson said she just used the 'white' loos. When someone complained she just ignored them and carried on. Whilst it's not dramatic, I think it's more badass than the film.
Dorothy Vaughan was the first black supervised st NASA but in 1947.
I loved the film but it makes me sad that so many fantastic minds were just wasted over the years - white womens too. When you think what the world has achieved utilising only half the available minds. Where could we be if we utilised all of this brilliance?

Really great film, one of the best I watched last year.

Lottapianos · 03/01/2018 08:11

I watched it over Xmas and loved it. I thought it was a bit naff to start with but it ended up being a great mix of uplifting and hard hitting. The bathroom sign scene was really moving

Watched this film the other night and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's quite sad that such talented ladies were confined to calculator duties.

The bit that got me was the was the guy who had been in a concentration camp saying now he was designing a space rocket

Get the book - it’s really interesting. I listened to the audio version whilst walking the dog, liked it so much I bought the book and film too!

My daughter and I watched it together a while back, it's a brilliant film. I've got the book to read on my kindle, it'll be interesting to see the differences.
