Is a load of shite.

Orcs, elves, gansters.

Its like LOTR meets Bad Boys.

I second that. Lasted 15 minutes

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 23/12/2017 20:55

We liked it.

Chilver · 23/12/2017 20:56

It was entertaining without being anything special at all. A little odd and seemed quote low key for Will Smith?!

PaperBagPrincesa · 23/12/2017 21:01

Thanks! I was wondering if i should give it a chance. You"ve convinced me not to bother.

Dh is currently watching it. All that's going through my head is "and I'm missing that hobbit for this"
at least Ive recorded it

Cherrypi · 23/12/2017 21:07

I quite enjoyed it. Not my normal type of thing. I thought it was going to be a tv series though

Lanaa · 23/12/2017 21:15

I thought it was shite too, went to bed after an hour and left DP watching it alone.

Samcro · 23/12/2017 21:20

Watching it now
Golly its odd

NapQueen · 23/12/2017 21:21

Even dh said it was shite and he watches Anything.

it wasn't the worst film ever, but was very strange

nancy75 · 23/12/2017 22:31

We only lasted about 20 minutes. It was very sweary for a 15, I’ve usually got a mouth like a sewer so for me to notice the language it must have been quite bad!

OrinocoDugong · 03/01/2018 01:16

We just watched it. I kind of liked some of it but the world-building was a bit shit (eg why would "fairy tale" be a synonym for something obviously untrue when there are actual fairies and dragons? How are we supposed to believe that US history and culture was so unaltered that the LAPD is almost the same, despite all this fantasy stuff)

The plot was clunky and terrible eg the existence of wands is revealed and explained and then 30 seconds later they find a wand and it's awesome power is demonstrated for us. They find a bomb just lying around just moments before a situation emerges where a bomb is just what they need. Such a tired cliché that the character who seemed like a "nobody" whose life just happened to have been saved by accident in act 1 turns out to have the opportunity to save Our Heros' lives in act 5.

BUT I liked the premise. Charitably - I think with investment in decent writers and some rigorous thought about an arc story it could make a decent series. I thought the original feature-movie buffy the vampire slayer was terrible but the tv series was good. It is possible that the poor aspects of bright were due to it being squeezed down too much and it might be OK if commissioned as a TV series.

charlyn · 03/01/2018 19:27

I thought it was ok - I felt like a lot of things weren't explained very well and there needed to be more backstory about the elves, orks etc.
It was a bit weird.

OrinocoDugong · 04/01/2018 02:35

They have confirmed a sequel. Different writer but not one whose previous work fills me with hope.

RavingRoo · 04/01/2018 02:42

Loved it. Just assume it started 2,000 years after Lord of the Rings and it makes more sense. Agree it should have been a TV series.

MrsTerryPratchett · 04/01/2018 02:46

Wannabe District 9. With extra nonsense.
