Time Traveller's Wife..continue with it or sack it off

I'm 40 mins in (started watching it yesterday). I'd heard so much about it, both the book and the film, yet I've come to the conclusion that I really don't feel anything about the characters.

Should I carry on? Will it get better? Is it time to bin it?

Is it a case of the book is better than the film? Or are they both equally pants?

The book is a load of whimsical tedious tosh second only to Lovely Bones, a horribly overrated book imo. Strangely a lot of people loved them both, it's really down to the individual's point of view.

I loved the book much more than the film and not sure how much i would have liked the film at all if i hadnt read the book. The book does bring you much closer to the characters.

The lovely bones book is my favourite book of all time but again not sure how much impact the film would have when you haven't read the book.

I think most books are better then you just need to see the film and realise it is just someones interpretation of the book with a lot of detail left out.

I found the book so dull I'd never have tried the film ...

Loved the book, hated the film. But the book took me a couple of goes to get into it properly. I think if I hadn't read the book I would have liked the film more.

I have a low tolerance for 'tosh' and tend to swerve around typical chick lit so I guess I'm saying I am more your 'discerning' type. Hope that helps!

Wanted to see the film for ages, then was totally underwhelmed when I did.

The film is rubbish, they give it a Hollywood ending and ruin it.

It's one of my favourite books, but the film is dreadful.

Film was shit. I found the book more creepy than romantic.

Thanks all, think I'll leave it alone. Which goes against the completer finisher in me, but I just feel so underwhelmed by the film.

I hated the book too. Ridiculous premise and not well written IMVHO.

Loved the book, absolutely detested the film!

Didn't like the film. Totally rubbish.

I got myself in such a state after watching the film that I couldn't leave the screen for 20 minutes as I was sobbing.
I hadn't read the book, must have been v hormonal!

I read the book & loved it. Nothing would tempt me to watch the film.

I much preferred The Lovely Bones to this hokey, which had creepy paedo undertones to it.

Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams are awfully easy on the eye though.
