Saw this last night. Oh my. So moving and brilliant.
It's about the childhood lived in the run down motels on the strip outside Disney world. Mainly an unknown cast - (apparently the police/social workers were real) but also starring Willem Dafoe who is fab.
But it's the kids who steal the show. Quite astonishing performances.
It's all shot in hot pinks and neon yellows and bright oranges - you can really feel the heat on the tarmac.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars because I thought it could have been cut a little - it's quite 'languid', and also because some of the dialogue is so naturalistic as to be unintelligible.
Anyone else seen it? No spoilers but would love to talk about the parenting/lack of and wonder if doughty little Jancey, who does something quite remarkable at the end, is able to have the presence of mind because she has a (relatively) more stable home life?
