Anyone here work in a cinema?

Hi I'm puzzled as to why there are always random blocks of 4 seats greyed out on booking screen? Is this something the cinema does ?? Example photo attached

Isn’t that just showing seats that are already booked?

It just shows seats you can’t book because someone already has, surely?

They are house seats. Booked in every performance to be used where other seats are broken/soiled/inaccessible etc.

It happens on every booking. Always blocks of 4. They aren't actually taken by anyone. I've checked this a few times when been to virtually empty screenings during the day
