Who's seen the new IT movie! Comparison to the old one!

So went and watched the new IT movie on Friday, and couldn't stop comparing it to the old IT, that scared me loads back when I first watched it! Was 13 then, so in my head the old it was scarier! Liked the new one, clown is visually more scary looking, but Tim Currys clown more menacing! Whats Your views!

I haven't seen the original or read the book. I think making Beverley's father a rapist was justified as her courage in dealing with a serious real and present danger in every day of her life was what gave the others courage and strength when they were together.

I thought it was really well done and a good ensemble cast.

IT was okay but actually it would have been better if the dad the abuser was dropped. Personally, I would not call it a scary movie.

Finally saw it yesterday and I know I'll always be critical because it's my favourite book.
I thought the first half was a bit meh to be honest and it didn't really seem that scary (other than the bit in the garage with the projector).
What I really don't understand is how everyone raves about how this version is much closer to the book. Imo it's much further from it than the Tim Curry version (aside from it being bought forward 20 odd years).
But, it was an OK movie overall I just don't think it justified all the crazy hype.
