Despicable Me - suitable for 3 year old?

Just that really. Wondering about taking a 3 year old to see the latest in the series in the cinema the his weekend. But wondering if that's too young for it to keep his attention?

Has he seen the other despicable me films? Does he like them/want to go?

Some 3 year olds have good attention and can easily sit through a film, others not so much and would get bored/fed up. Suppose it depends on what he is like generally.

I'm going to take my 2 year old. She sat all the way through The Boss Baby. She can be a bit wriggly at times though! I agree with littletwofeet that it depends on your child really.

I'm taking my 2 year old but only because ds1 wants to see it. I expect she will fall asleep in the middle of it - she normally does when we go to the saturday morning kids showings.

I'm taking my just turned 3 year old (mainly cos the 5 year old will enjoy it). The 3 year old has sat through the 3 other films but has never been to the cinema before so DH will take him out if necessary

We tend to go to kids AM at our local cinema. Dc are too young to realise how long the film has been out and it's only £2.00/£2.50 a ticket so not quite so bad if they don't sit through it.

Both of mine were about 2.5/3 when they first went I think and did sit through but I know many that wouldn't.

I took my dd to a couple of kids cheaper showings at just 3 with one of us prepared to take her out but she was fine, the awe of the situation kept her in her seat. She has watched the second Despicable Me with her older brother at home and enjoyed it so we are all going this weekend. She found the first one a bit scary because the kids had no parents and the main guy was horrible to them for a lot of it, but wasn't disturbed by any of the action so hoping the third one similar to II.

Could also see Boss Baby, which has advantage of not being part of a series (yet). Do people recommend that?

I don't be think at 3 it will matter about it being a series. Maybe show him the trailers of both on your phone and ask what he would prefer.

I also recommend going to the cheap morning showings, as if he gets fed up halfway through, you haven't wasted lots of money and at that age he's probably not bother about it being an old film.

We all really enjoyed The Boss Baby (children then 5 and 1 years old)!

I agree with people above that Kids Club showings are great as they're cheaper (and it's less pressure in a way as you could leave easily without having wasted too much money)!

I'm pretty sure he'll enjoy the films but the cinema may be difficult. Speaking from experience, my children were a nightmare in the cinema a few years back watching the first film but when sat down in front of the television they were fine with the others.

Can you see Despicable Me 3 without having seen the others?

The minions in prison deserve their own movie spin off!

Why not introduce minions before you go for the show? Maybe something like the banana song?? That will encourage him to watch it and get himself interested about it IMO although the whole sory would not be completely understood.
However,I think Despicable Me would be better than Boss baby.
