Just back from seeing this & wondered if anyone else has seen it. To avoid spoilers I'm going to stick to serious house envy. Fabulous brick house with beautiful furnishings & decoration.

I want to see it, but the reviews have put me off!

Is it any good?

I was given a copy of the book by my headteacher when I left junior school aged 11. I loved it so much.

BigGreenOlives · 15/06/2017 06:50

We enjoyed it, neither of us needed baby sitters & we paid for cinema tickets & nothing else (no parking, no popcorn). It isn't going to change your life but it was a great distraction from children doing GCSEs, the Grenfell Tower fire (we live near it), Borough Market, the election/Brexit ramifications & Trump.

I quite enjoyed it in a Poldaaaaark kind of way. Not the top off and scything though there was scything. Mored scenery thing. Male protagonist was way too meaty for a young man of that day.

cuirderussie · 25/06/2017 22:21

It wasn't bad. Mildly distracted by wondering what "work" Rachel Weisz has had done to have no crows-feet at the age of 47 and yes, male actor was too grown up and manly for the role - he's 30 in real life. The novel is better though.

I haven't read the book (yet) but in the movie the bloke came off nuttier than she was.

I was praying for her to up the arsonic dose in his tea and end my his/her misery. Easter Smile

I enjoyed it.
Dh didn't but then he wouldn't .
Not his sort of film.

MyBeautifulLaunderette2 · 05/07/2017 14:10

I didn't enjoy it, found it a rather boring adaptation.

Dancergirl · 20/07/2017 14:43

Do you think it's ok for a 10 year old to see?

echt · 22/07/2017 02:13

I think the average ten year-old would be bored silly.

sakura06 · 23/07/2017 22:34

I agree that a 10 year old would find it boring.

Dancergirl · 23/07/2017 22:38

Thank you. And not even a mature 10 year old at that! Dh and I still hoping to see it ourselves though.

NikiBabe · 21/09/2017 20:45

That was utter shite. Just got around to seeing it.
