Is this the film with Jude Law about Stalingrad. Its ages since I've seen it but if I remember correctly and its the right film she gets injured and taken away. He thinks she is dead. Lots and lots of fighting. Just about everybody dies. The little boy is hung by the nasty character. There is a shoot out at the end between the bad guy and the good guy. Bad guy dies. Good guy ends up in hospital (can;t rememver if he is shot in the shoot out or something esle) but he wakes up and she is there with him. I think. Horrendous film - so grim and harrowing.

DS is something of an expert on this film - according to him, she is shot & he believes her to be dead, he kills the bad guy.
5 months later the russians win the battle for Stalingrad. She wakes up in hospital, & Jude Law is there having just found her.

My old boss's nephew played the kid. He was down to be Harry Potter too for a bit but they decided he was too old in the end.
