i saw it on tuesday and dd has already seen it twice (grin)
I dont think it is any scarier than Maleficent.
However there is some child abuse, but not really shown ie you know a child is beaten because of cuts and shown a belt but doesnt actually show the beating. There is no battles however there is a black presence that causes chaos with buildings falling down and people running away in panic sort of thing.
There is also a sort of mild torture scene to do with bad memories, again nothing really shown just implied.
just found this on imdb
"the film contains several action scenes that are tinged with the element of fantasy. For example, there are scenes depicting wizards shooting bolts of light at their adversaries or making a person freeze in motion.
Some scenes show a black cloud overturning cars and tearing the road apart, causing general mayhem in the city.
Some stronger scenes show people who suffer magical attacks.
In one scene, a man is lifted up into the air and slammed down onto the floor, his face is shown to be withered and dried. Another scene shows a woman being swallowed by a black cloud and her face is later shown to be shriveled and wrinkled.
As such scenes may be disturbing for a younger audience, parental guidance is recommended."
The creatures are beautifully created and there are some lovely funny scenes with the niffler and some of the other creatures, which younger children will enjoy.
