I have to say, I wish I'd never watched The Shining (at a sleepover when I was 14). It scared the pants off me!

Anyone else?

Yeah unfortunately like i said its the worst thing i've ever watched!!! Don't actually know who directed/had written it but they can't of been right in the head!

Thegiantofillinois · 28/08/2016 23:11

I accidentally watched Bridge to Terabithia one Xmas holidays. I was alone, so sobbing into my croissant wasn't as embarrassing as it have been. Dc will probably watch it one day and be totally unmoved. And I will still cry.

Hotel Rwanda and 12 Years a Slave. Cried so hard for so long, I ended up with an almighty headache each time. So harrowing.

I love horrors but agree can't abide the rape scenes in some of them (Hills Have Eyes, The Devil's Rejects, Wolf Creek etc).

Boredom factor - fell asleep whilst on a date in the cinema watching Pirates of the Caribbean.

MariposaUno · 28/08/2016 23:31

slinky I cried at 12yrs a slave too. Was a good movie but I wouldn't watch it again!

Beast's of No nation follows a simular theme and is truly heartbreaking.
Think civil war and child soldiers. Main character being a child separatedevelopment from his family and recruited.

It has a bitter sweet ending which is the bit I cried at.

The curb scene in American History X springs to mind. In fact the whole film is more memorable as my brother was the absolute spit of Edward Norton at the time. It made it more disturbing somehow.

Dizzybintess · 28/08/2016 23:55

The grudge
And Freddie got fingered

chickenowner · 29/08/2016 00:00

I was talking to my Mum about this recently. She is haunted by the film version of 'Never Let me Go'. I saw it with her, but had read the book so knew what was coming!

It's a beautiful book and film, don't be put off!!

seasidesally · 29/08/2016 00:09

i have no idea what it was called but it was Australian and about a daughter and father, incest i think

anyway they took a guy and basically tortured him with drills and allsorts really disturbing scenes

they also kept fellow victims in a dungeon in the basement which the victims had turned mad and ate each other

have no idea what it's called but was plain weird

ArtichokeHeartsAppleCarts · 29/08/2016 00:19

Into the wild-found it very unsettling

Cherrysoup · 29/08/2016 00:31

The Shining, shit me right up, I was sleeping at the top of a huge house on my own, with a shower curtain that moved on its own. Nearly had a heart attack.

The Revenant, was traumatised by the nasty bear attack and the casual way Tom Hardy stabbed the guy's son. Euw.

Exorcist: the crucifix bit. I'm Catholic, ffs!

Middleoftheroad · 29/08/2016 00:41

Not read the book but The Lovely Bones

Gingernaut · 29/08/2016 00:51

I am a wimp and avoid most horror films. Gratuitous sadism is just awful and that's what most horror films seem to consist of these days.

Ravens Gate - aliens land in rural/desert Australia and accidentally ( and horrifically) kill everyone they try to make contact with.

The Legend of Tarzan - there is no problem that can't be solved by a stampede of wildebeest.

The new Ghostbusters film - absolutely cretinous and absolutely unnecessary.

Godfather Part Three - during the intermission (yes, it was that long), total strangers were asking each other if it really was a crap as they thought it was.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/08/2016 00:59

I watched The Human Centipede (twice Blush ) but I desperately wanted The Mad Doctor to kill the dark haired girl very quickly because her screaming got on my nerves.

The last minute was one of the saddest scenes ever.
If you haven't seen it, I won't spoil it for you Wink but it was very much a "What the feck do I do now " from one of the characters.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/08/2016 01:01

Bad Lieutenant (Harvey Kietel version) was a grim, I haven't seen the Nicholas Cage remake ( I've heard its worse)

chickenowner · 29/08/2016 01:03

70isaLimit I haven't seen The Human Centipede, but just reading about it disturbed me!

QueenLizIII · 29/08/2016 01:04

The Road- depressing as hell.

I dont get Pirates of the Caribbean. I saw the first one and found it utterly boring.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/08/2016 01:11

Ah chicken you won't fancy 2 or 3 either. (Apparantly 3 makes 1 look like Disney Shock )
DH told me we had HC2 on Netflix or something "But you are watching it alone" he said.
I read the blurb and I didn't watch.

Imscarlet · 29/08/2016 01:12

Haven't RTFT but event horizon! I saw it nigh on 20 years ago and still not the better of it. More recently - is it 'the most' a Stephen King. I was very familiar with the story having read it a number of times. Nothing prepared me for the ending - which differed from the book. And I was a newish mother.

chickenowner · 29/08/2016 01:14

Thank you for the warning 70isaLimit

I am a sensitive little flower...

chickenowner · 29/08/2016 01:16

Ohhhhh Imscarlet My brother and I watched Event Horizon many years ago, and were SO freaked out that we had to wait for each other outside the bathroom when we went to the loo!

Imscarlet · 29/08/2016 01:21

I know! Horrific! I couldn't even tell you what it was about now, it's been that long. Just the lingering terror from it!

chickenowner · 29/08/2016 01:22

Spaceship to hell???

KARMAisaBtch · 29/08/2016 01:22

BAtman vs Superman

KARMAisaBtch · 29/08/2016 01:23

The Lobster!

zgaze · 29/08/2016 01:39

Sophie's Choice. I have had a daughter and a son since I watched it and have thought about it many times :-(
