Still think Candyman is the scariest.

bandstand · 26/01/2007 23:28

candy man
and texas chainsaw massacre, cannot watch that..

expatinscotland · 26/01/2007 23:33

I don't like horror films.

Saw The Descent.

That it was weird.

I'd have to say 'The Ring'. The Japanese version.

babywhiting · 26/01/2007 23:35

its gotta be bambi when the mum dies so scary poor bambi....

no its gotta be the hostel its just not good and i had to shut my eyes loads with all the body parts on the trolley its grim!!!!
but other than that candyman and texas chainsaw massacre yuk yuk yuk!!!!

themoon66 · 26/01/2007 23:50

Never seen 'Saw' or 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre'. Dunno to this day how I ended up in a cinema watching Hostel.....

Blondilocks · 27/01/2007 00:24

I love horror films. The only one that really scared me was Hostel, had nightmares about that & normally I'm fine after watching them.

I could NOT watch that movie again.

sandcastles · 27/01/2007 01:03

The Decent was harmless...I love horror films.

Now, The Hostel...haven't heard of that, sounds good....what's it all about then?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 27/01/2007 01:06

Hate Hate Hate Horror films.

Of the ones i have seen, It was sooooo scary, and Childsplay has left me scarred for life.

serenity · 27/01/2007 01:14

I love Horror books, and I love Horror films but have problems watch the. I jump too easily so get scared at all the wrong moments and at all the wrong films - no problem with gore or violence at all, it's just films with jumpy out bits (oh and the living dead, not too keen on zombies)

The only horror film that I found really disturbing was one called Society

geekgrrl · 27/01/2007 07:00

i've got the hostel sitting on the shelf here, waiting to be watched. Don't think that'll happen anytime soon now!

I used to be able to watch the most dreadful horror films but am now at a point where I seem to spend a lot of time hiding behind my hands.

geekgrrl · 27/01/2007 07:02

oh, and worst one for me was Wolf Creek. Urgh. Shivering at the thought.

LadyTophamHatt · 27/01/2007 07:42

ohhh we love horror films, we joined the tesco dvd club and 90% of our selection is horror.

I never been able to watch The shining all the wy through, It terrifies me, never even attempted to read the book.

The Grudge made me scream out loud. It was the bit in the office block/apartment building when the face appears on the cctv screeen thing.....OMG i nearly shit a brick!!

Candyman is FAB too, all made up but i'd never say it 5 times in a mirror....would you??

LadyTophamHatt · 27/01/2007 07:45

ledodgy, we had the exorism of emily rose out the other day...... DH always complians that i fall asleep during films but I forced myself to slepp during that one.

LieselVentouse · 27/01/2007 10:04

A lot of these were blood are gore though and I prefer phsycologically scary - things like The Others and The Omen. Dont like slasher horror

Greensleeves · 27/01/2007 10:06

The Woman In Black shat me out bigstyle

as did Don't Look Now

Biglips · 27/01/2007 10:09

my Dp lluurrvveesss horror films - im just a wimp!! as cant watch anything that involved blood - yuck!.....but the only film that freaked me out is THE RING....i was so scared that dp had to turn all the lights on on the way up to bed as suddenly i was terrified of the dark. i bought the Dvd for dp's bday about 2 yrs ago and still not watched it again as NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!

tiredemma · 27/01/2007 10:51

greensleeves- I thought i was going to have a heart attack many times during the Woman in Black. I dont think I could ever watch it again.

Blondilocks · 27/01/2007 18:26

I must say that I'm glad I saw Hostel, even though it was horrible. You need to give it time though as the first bit makes you think, oh great another teenage bloke shag-fest film & then it gets horrible.

I must say that I am terribly squeamish so perhaps liking horror films isn't ideal. Hid under my coat for part of it but you could still hear the noises ... shant say any more as I don't want to spoil it too much.

peanutbutter · 27/01/2007 18:35

we love horror/scary movies here - excorcist, the shining (great golden oldies) plus some of the good newer stuff (halloween h20, the ring).

i was horribly disturbed by The Blairwitch Project though. watched it at the cinema, then again when it came out on dvd and vowed never to watch it again. it leaves me feeling utterly bleak.

tallulah · 27/01/2007 18:57

geekgrrl I'm with you on Wolf Creek. nasty nasty film that stayed with me for ages. Especially the "head on a stick" bit, and seeing all the camcorders with film of little children on them, with the implication of what had happened to them.

southeastastra · 27/01/2007 19:01

i found the descent really scary too, i suppose it has something to do with being trapped.

carlsberg · 27/01/2007 19:07

As soon as I saw the thread title I thought of Hostel. It was horrible and I think I must have seen every horror film going. Dh works away and I still sit and watch them on my own, but brick it afterwards.
I love spooky films as well like the Ring. I turn all the lights off and get really into them, then I'm too scared to go to the toilet !!

themoon66 · 27/01/2007 23:40

Those of you freaked out by Wolf Creek.... please don't watch Hostel.. Wolf Creek is Hostel's mild little sister!

MummyPenguin · 28/01/2007 19:52

I don't like Horror films. Probably the scariest I've seen is Childs Play. I stupidly watched it one night on my own. And that one's pretty tame as far as horror goes. I even nearly shit all over my sofa whilst watching Fatal Attraction, that scene where Michael Douglas thinks Glenn Close is dead in the bath, and suddenly she sits bolt upright!

I wouldn't even entertain the idea of watching Hostel. I don't even like looking at the DVD cover in the DVD shop. It's always there at eye level. I think, like the grotty mags, they should move those type of films to a higher shelf, so that kids don't see it. Even Hostel's cover is horrible.

I remember watching American Werewolf in London when I was a kid. Not a good move.

DimpledThighs · 28/01/2007 19:59

well thanks to the recommendatuion on here we watched hostel last night and it is very disturbing and weird, but I loved the whole nod to the hammer horror films and old style scary films.

Horrid idea, horrid film, a lot watched through my fingers but all-in-all good.
