Tween sleepover movies?

DD is having a sleepover for her 11th birthday- all girls. They want to watch a film. DD wants to be grown up and won't entertain anything that is rated anything lower than a 12. I wasn't happy with her being allowed to watch the latest James bond at a school sleepover, but I was the only parent who seemed to object so we let her otherwise she would have felt left out. Therefore I don't think the other girl's parents care too much about what they watch. She has already seen Pitch Perfect, Clueless, Spectre.

So! Recommendations please for movies the girls will enjoy that are a 12 or lower and 'grown up' and 'cool' enough? No animated disney!

Wild Child

Sleepover - comedy about a group of girls on a sleepover who sneak out to compete in a scavenger hunt. Big hit with my DD and her friends.

For sleepovers important not to do movies that some parents would not let daughters watch - the above are all pretty safe and tweeny

I am surprised 11 year olds watched James Bond - not in my house !!

They seem to think they are so grown up! I wouldn't have let dd watch James Bond, but it was a choice of everyone else watching it while she sat in another room or letting her watch it (this was a Y6 sleepover organised by her teacher at school )

I'm not sure anything about Princesses will be seen as acceptable by the girls.

I've thought about Dirty dancing? It's so hard to find something they haven't all watched lots of times before.

Think dirty dancing is a 15 its not that suitable for 12 year olds

Imo dirty dancing is way too old for them. Surely it's not 12 rated? What about enchanted? Bit of a piss take if Disney princess films & I thought it was really funny.

The last JB was a 12a. There was a 5 or 6 year old behind me at cinema. Didnt undetstand it at all and talked all the way through it

Ella Enchanted is good as well.

Oh and the princess bride mentioned earlier - loved this film when I was younger!

Not sure on the rating but what about Pitch Perfect 2? My two (14 and 12) love/d Mean Girls, Angus Thongs and something or other, 27 Dresses, Bride Wars. Some aspects might be 'older' but it's a tricky age and although they might still secretly love Disney princess films, they probably won't admit it to their friends!

Probably better to narrow it down to 3 films and let them choose which one (or all 3, as they'll be up all night!)

Fresta - take a look at the links - they are all teenage type movies - very tween - not "princessy" at all - but also no sex (like dirty dancing and James Bond nor inappropriate references like pitch perfect)

Most are about friendship to be honest - rejecting peer pressure and being yourself

The sisterhood of the travelling pants. I think it's appropriate for 11 year olds. It's a coming of age type

Or 13 going on 30 - that's another good one.

Would they all have seen things like Paper Towns / The Fault in our Stars / Me and Earl and the Dying Girl?
< Caveat, I've seen the first & third, and while I don't recall their being anything unsuitable, my dd's 14, so a bit older. TFIOS I think is definitely aimed at that tween to teen demographic >
