Girls you must see Brad looking sexy in this...

Also there's the whole Homer, Greek mythology angle which is fascinating. Not too much fighting, quite a lot of story and a haunting soundtrack...

Every woman I know that's seen the movie (I haven't yet) loves the yummy male "eye candy" on display. All the men I know object to going to the film because they "don't care to see Brad Pitt in a skirt".......

Maybe we should do a summer mumsnet gathering to see the film? Would be like one big hen night......

katierocket · 02/06/2004 06:52

it's been slated though hasn't it?
was it really worth seeing?

I mean I like brad fit but if that's the only attraction 3 hours is a long time.

roisin · 02/06/2004 08:22

I really enjoyed it, despite it not being my sort of film. Not too much fighting at all. Didn't seem long to me. My main objection would be Sean Bean's accent: Apparently Greek Kings speak with a Sheffield accent, but with long 'a's ....?!

SoupDragon · 02/06/2004 08:31

I've not seen it yet but to quote a friend it has "lots of male totty but not much substance"

Azure · 02/06/2004 08:37

I think it's definitely something to see on the big screen. Of course it's not a faithful version of Homer's original, but it's fast-enough paced and visually stunning.

SoupDragon · 02/06/2004 08:38

When you say "visually stunning" are you commenting on the cinematography or the cast?

babster · 02/06/2004 08:52

Soupy, your friend has hit the nail on the head. Very enjoyable though. TBH, I though Brad was the least of the attractions - Eric Bana was fantastic (in performance and torso) and Orlando was beautiful... ooooh, lovely brown-eyed men. Go with your girlfriends rather than your bloke

Azure · 02/06/2004 08:53

Both Soupdragon

Natster81 · 03/06/2004 14:10

who is it who plays prince hector?? he is lush! is that eric bana? was made to sit thru it by hubbie but had to admit i thouroughly enjoyed it!!

Azure · 03/06/2004 14:12

Yes, Eric Bana. An Aussie working in my office commented that Eric started out in comedy, and finds it strange seeing him in dramatic roles - difficult to him doing comedy, isn't it?

Azure · 03/06/2004 14:13

difficult to IMAGINE...

sponge · 03/06/2004 14:22

It's basically pretty terrible.
What could have been a good film, horribly Hollywooded.
But the boys are pretty and, the action is fun and the effects are good, so it passes the time quite pleasantly.
Brad, although pretty, is quite unsympathetic - played as an arrogant w**ker. Eric as Hector is altogether more likeable. And apparently Brad had to have a leg double because his weren't good enough in a frock!

sponge · 03/06/2004 14:24

Also, stranger even than a start in comedy is the idea that Eric Bana played the Hulk in the recent version.

vict17 · 03/06/2004 14:55

I'm the same as roisin - I really enjoyed it. I thought it went very quickly and the film was very convincing. I thought Brad looked a bit old in it and Orlando too young for me! Hector was nice though....

SoupDragon · 16/06/2004 20:31

"Not too much fighting" ??! There seemed to be an awful lot of gore to my mind.

roisin · 16/06/2004 20:48

Did you enjoy it Soupdragon? I guess my 'not too much fighting' comment was weighing it up relatively, against say, Lord of the Rings, which personally I just couldn't stomach because of all the gore.

layla · 17/06/2004 14:58

Must agree-Eric Bana was lovely in it.Dh who went with me summed it up as camp.He hated it.I thought it was great and thoughrouly enjoyed it.
How can Brad Pit be too old in it??
